I just posted my symptoms (See Lupus forum -still looking for answers), so I'm not going to repeat them. I have done a lot of research and both conditions fit my symptoms better than anything else. I tested positive for ANA. The endocrinologist also commented that my thyroid had a rough texture. I have no idea what that means. Is it possible to get bitten by one of these ticks and no know it. What happens if you are never diagnosed? I also have the butterfly rash although my family dr insists that it is rosacea. She also insists that I am depressed. I have pictures of the rash. I showed it to her and she said rosacea and gave me a script for metro gel. Who tests you for Lyme? I'm still waiting for my first visit with the rhemutologist because of the positive ANA test. I have heard that you can have a positive ANA test and be okay, but that combined with all my other systems probably isn't good. He seems to think it is auto immune. I bruise very easily and I have had a bulls eye bruise, but I don't recall ever having a tick bite. Symptoms started in 2005 after the birth of my first son when I lived in MO, I now live in KY. If this is not Lupus, should I test for Lyme?

Your right lyme and lupus can look the same. just do as much research as you can. You will identify more with one or the other. You must find a lyme doctor for proper testing of lyme not even the infectious disease society believes in chronic lyme. [email protected] ask for a lyme doc in your area she will email you back w one . they cn be hard to find. you need at least a wester blot test. And no test is completly conclusive for either of these diseases If you test negative you may still have either. But if you test pos you have it. press on and find an answer. i identify w u because i developed symptoms after child birth. she is 19 mnths old. and congetital lyme is possible. Press on good luck.

And yes it is possible to never know you have been bitten by a tick. There are as many people who do realize they have been bitten as who do not realize they have been bitten.
