Severe lower back pain

My lower back pain is my worst symptom.  I am trying to figure out if it is the Lyme or Bartonella, does anyone else suffer from this?

Ah Yes the old pack pain!!!! I have disk problems from Lyme, sometimes I cannot even move. Back pain was one of the first and lasting symptoms of Lyme and co-infections that I have and have had for years. The bacteria likes to go to the weakest place and for me in the beginning it was my lumbar spine. It comes and goes but mostly comes, yet another gift from the tick. Treatment does make it better but not best. Blessings

My back is really tight all over, but most of the pain is in the middle. I wasn't up to going to the chiropractor for two months. I tried massage and Reiki during April. That helps, but is temporary. During IV treatment in May got even weaker, but all symptoms slowly subsided except the back. I had fallen down the steps in March, so am hoping the issues were from that. Went to chiropractor last week and again yesterday, and finally beginning to ease up a bit. It's just taking time.

momto3, I am so sorry about your back pain. I totally sympathize w/ you.   I have had severe, recurring lower back pain for most of my adult life. I always accepted it as caused by my scoliosis and the fact that I never properly cared for my back. I know that my scoliosis is worse, and is causing a lot of the pain, now that I've aged some. But I was surprised to read that scoliosis generally doesn't cause pain, esp in youth. My back never bothered me until a few years after that old suspect tick bite in '71-- I was only 22, and I was pregnant. I don't know why I never had my back examined, I have suffered from it almost constantly, except for periods on and off when I was in really good shape and strengthened my abs and all surrounding back muscles. I also waited tables for over 20 years and attributed the pain to that work.

In particular answer to your question, Momtothree, the pain in my lower back and pelvic bones has progressively gotten worse, it's sometimes crippling, since my most recent bite 2 yrs ago. My whole skeleton is getting stiffer and my back muscles cramp, increasing the pain. All of this is true for my neck also. My back pain is getting extremely severe and now tylenol or Ibu do not touch it.  

I do not know if lyme or a co-infection is to blame for this, but given all my other symptoms, it's highly suspect. My LLMD appt has been reset for the end of this month -- hopefully I'll get some input there.

I had an MRI of my lumbar spine recently and it showed that I also have three bulging discs and a Tarlov cyst.  I am having difficulty walking for more than 30 minutes, my back gets stiff and burns, it feels like it is going to break in two.  I also have a problem standing for more than 10 minutes.  I am in a quandry as to whether it is the Lyme or the other problems, I am thinking a combo of both.  Thanks all for your input.

I'm like you momto3. I never know after being treated if it's Lyme again, or something new and unrelated.

Good luck with the treatments!

At least they found out what is causing it, even if it is possibly -- who knows -- secondary to Lyme.
