MS vs Lyme

No offense taken.  I know that both of these diseases are very poorly understood.  No one has perfect answers.  I am very confident in my dx.  I don't let challenges bother me.  I didn't feel you were challenging me.  Eveyone has questions.  For me it seems pretty clear cut.  I know that for many it is NOT clear cut.  That would be a horrible place to be!  These are both potentially debilitating diseases.  It is scary to think that you might not be treating the right disease/disorder. 

Ok now on to the low dose naltrexone.  For MS it has been available off label for about 20 or more years.  My opinon (remember; my opinion might be worth nothing ;)  is that if it was a significant treatment, it would be used more and approved.  The studies I have read (double blind.....not anecdotals)  say that LDN is a good option for treating symptoms but it is totally unproven as far as slowing down progression.  I also have the opinion that it is our bodies, and if someone wants to experiment with LDN that it is probably safe.  It doesn't seem to cause any problems.  There is some controversy as to whether you can take it with opiate/narcotic pain meds.  You cannot take it with an interferon.  There are only 4 mainstream treatments for MS progression; and 3 of four of those are interferons.  That means you are either NOT taking a MS progression therapy or you are taking copaxone if you want to try LDN. 

Like I have said before, this is a juicy thread.  I am here for as long as you want me.  I would love to see more done with Lyme as the results would be significant for MSers as well.  I think that Lyme is epidemic and needs attention; people die from this!!
