I need alot of information on congenital lyme symptoms.

My daughter has been healthy basically but some small strange things have occured. Any info on congenital lyme please. I am watching her while i wait for testing time.

There's not a whole lot out there, but here's some...

* Infants either infected congenitally or from breast milk can have


- Floppiness with poor muscle tone

- Irritability

- Frequent fevers and illness early in life

- Joint sensitivities and body pain

- Skin sensitivity

- Gastro esophageal reflux

- Developmental delays

-Learning disabilities and psychiatric problems


Infants infected congentially can have


-Small windpipes (tracheomalacia)

- Eye problems (cataracts)

- Heart defects

Hey V,

I can't really find a lot of stuff on this. Is there something specific your daughter has that maybe we could google along with 'congenital lyme' and see if its a match?

I know I can usually find anything that is why I was trieing to ask the mothers here. -
- Well her appetite has been bad.
-she runs fevers of 100 despite healthy activity,
-She has been to the ER when she would just be listless out of nowhere and just seem to look like she was just going to fall asleep in a narcoleptic way, and run a fever durring this,
-blood work done they know nothing, said oh its just a virus,
-she has been pooping a very dark black slightly green. but it is black mostly. --When she was born for a few months she had a bruisy rash on the back of her neck that would come and go and change shape. -It isnt there anymore-
-She also had diaper rash to this day she gets it. her but must be washed frequently through the day so that the rash doesnt get bad, and vaseline every diaper change.

-her brain is beautiful though she is a genious , she does baby sign language (she is hearing they say doing sign language developes vocabulary stronger because they are communicating at an earlier age, she was doing 3 signs at 7 months it is wild to see... milk, more, and all done. Now at 21 monthe she says please ,thank you , your welcome, are you ok I love her so much.

Has her doc requested a stool sample?  Have you told her doc about the black stools?  They might want to test it or at least ask about her diet.  I have to wonder about the bruisy rash on the neck thing.  Did you get a picture of it, or did her doc see it?

Black stool can mean several things. You should definitely have that checked. She could have an ulcer or H-pylori. I sure hope not. Poor baby.

Black stool can also mean to much iron. you definitely need to have her checked out. praying for you both.

Yes I dont think i have a picture of the bruisy rashy thing because i didnt know we may have lyme at the time. Someone in my family said it was a birth mark and that was all i thought until I read about it being a symptom of congenital lyme. She goes to the doc soon I'm going to bring the information to her doc about ordering the igenex western blot, hopefully she does it so i dont have to pay millions for her first lyme doc apts.
Developementally she is perfect though , thank you guys i will kp updated
--any more info is needed
