Emily update and graduation

Well it's been over a year very since I've posted. Emily began getting sick 6 years ago and it took 2 years to get the diagnosis of Lyme. Found a LLMD and over a year of treatment. Emily was home schooled during her 10 and 11th grade and last summer. This year she was back in school full time and on Thursday Emily graduated and is planning to go off to College in August. I am very proud of how hard she worked to earn her diploma.

She no longer has joint pain, severe fatigue, her moods are stable and the meds for mood stabilization have been greatly reduced. Her anxiety is also much better and she no more night sweats (just me now). Her stomach issues are better as well. In general she is 90% better then she was 4-6 years ago and now lives a full life. The last year has been a real blessing to see her go from home schooled and lying sick on the couch for years to walking on stage and getting her diploma. No dry eyes in our family!

She still has neck pain and continues to see a Chiropractor every other week. She refused to take more antibiotics because she felt they were making her worse, we tried going with natural herbs and supplements for a few months after abx.

She continued to get migraine headaches several times a week until this winter. I took her to Jefferson Headache center, they were just wonderful, when Emily wrote 'Chronic Lyme' on her medical history the doctor said that he has seen patients with Lyme who suffer with migraines even after abx treatments. He changed some of her meds dosage and gave her a script for an anti-seizure med which we gradually increased over a month. We saw immediate improvement from several migraines a week to 1 every week or two and during the last month she hasn't had one migraine. He also recommended mega does of Vit. B2 so she takes 350 mgs of Vit B 2 now as well.

During the college search we agreed that Emily would stay close to home so I'll be able to see her and get a sense of her health. She will be living in campus housing.

I was reading the posts today and checking up on people and I wanted to let the newbies know that it is a very rough road to recovery and everyone is different but from our experience you can get better and a life back--maybe not 100% but for us we're happy with how things are now and I hope that Emily continues to stay as healthy as she is now.

Many people in town know what we've been through and I'll get asked who our LLMD was they want to share what they are going through and it all brings back the years of frustration, doubt, visits to specialist...

Robin!  I am Sooo thankful that I jumped on for a minute and found your update on Em.  Heth, Bear and I are so happy for Em.  Congratulations!!   We pray and hope with you that this year goes well.  Heth said to tell Em that if she is on FB, she can friend request her.  In the meantime, would you please email me so that we can stay in touch? 

What a beautiful blessing to share.  TY for coming back to encourage those who have since come along and who are in need of that same hope while they wait and battle..
