How long to see results? Is this Bartonella?

I have been taking Zithromax and Mepron for about 10 days now: have some energy back but still feel intense shakiness, agitation, and insomnia as well as pain in my back. How long before you know an antibiotic is actually working? And is this Bartonella? - I think the symptoms have seemed more like those listed on this site.

Hi Psr1,

Did your doctor tell you that you had Bartonella? The meds you are on are usually used to treat Babesia. Levaquin and Rifampin is usually used for Bartonella.

You can usually tell that antibiotics are working when you herx. A herx is a worsening of symptoms. You said that you were feeling better too, so that's another good sign.

I did have a herx reaction: intensification of chills and neuralgic pains. This seems slowly to be going away: how long does it take to see some real relief? I know my doctor is not treating me for Bartonella, but it seems to me as if that's what I have: low grade fevers during the day but better at night, intense neuralgic sensations - pain and electrical feelings - on my back and legs, and exhaustion coupled with an inability to sleep. Any thoughts?
