Lyme seizure?

How does Lyme cause seizures? Does one feel it coming on at any point, or is it just out of the blue?

What is a seizure like? Before, during, and after.

Actually if I can remember right, there are many types & strength of seizures. I have no idea whether mine was caused by LD (or any other TBI), the higher dose of Mino for a full yr, or if was a combo of both - w/ plenty of stress mixed in.

Since I was driving through the curvy Ozark Hills of Mo. & Ar. - it was pretty traumatic for me!! My body just kind of 'locked up' unvoluntarily, then I could actually feel my eyes trying to "roll back into" my head.

I have had friends & family who have seizures, so I knew what one looked like & could do a few basics in order to prevent them from hurting themselves too bad. BUT!! That knowledge did me no good.

I pulled over to the side of the road as soon I could find a place wide enough, and it took about 15 minutes before I could gather enough bravery to try to get the rest of the way home.

And that was when I came home!! Hubby was traveling for work at the time, and so I had to come home & essentially live by myself - which became a whole 'nother "adventure".

I wouldn't wish seizures one any one for any reason - as I said - it scared the holy bejeezers out of me!!!

Sorry my response is so late! Traveler, I am so sorry about your horrible experience! That was truly life threatening! Did you go to the Dr or the hospital after? Shouldn't one do this after having a seizure?

Have you had any similar experiences since?

Don't worry about response time with me +Lyme!

I was so exhausted - it was a little surprising to me how much energy it took out of me!! I did go to the doc a couple of days later, but I won't ever tell a doc I had a seizure again - unless I start having them regularly.

It seems that here in Ar. if you tell your doc, or it suspected that you have had a seizure - your drivers license can be suspended immediately & you have to go a full yr without another seizure before you can get it back.

I argued & argued with my Neuro about this as I was living alone at that time because hubby had to travel to work. He -the doc- finally gave in some - he just had me sign a paper releasing him from responsibility should I have an accident.

I only went out to 2 places at that time - the local grocery store & the doc, as it took so much out of me that I had to be the bump on the couch for 3 days afterwards.

Fortunately I have not had any repeat performances, so far. I am very, very, very careful to monitor my body & how I feel now. I can over-do just enough to take me down a notch & still be okay & then there are the times (like trying to keep up with PT appts)

when I reach a point that I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that if I go out or do anything more than is absolutely necessary (got up to only get something to eat, get something to drink, go potty - dogs had to wait until I was already up to out) I'll be bed-ridden for weeks. And that's just plain NOT FUN!!!

Of course - if ANYONE has a seizure it needs to be checked out IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!

Just know that there may be some unpleasant results.

Fortunately, that was the end of the seizures for me. I just have to be really careful now because I do have a tendency to pass out - but this has only happened in the evening or in the middle of the night.

I have known for some time that LD has taken up residence in my neuro system, as well as most others - but I have been too ill to travel several hundred miles each way to see an LLMD.

Although I have had all I can take now & will be starting Dr. J's "at home" tx.

Traveler, you are a very brave soul! I hope i can get as strong! One little funny heart symptom and i'm ready to throw the towel in. By Dr. J's at home are you talking about the "beating lyme" book and protocol - that Dr. J? Or is this the Dr. J i've heard others mention- an LLMD?

Hey Finding~
I am referring to the same Dr. J that Deejavu speaks of. I believe they are one in the same though.

As I have said a few times before - I have no heart involvement sx. - other than a few palps now & again!!! I don't think I could do anything but panic if I really had heart issues!!

BTW - I'm not that strong (Unless I missed a couple of showers - giggle!!), just stubborn!!!! I've lived the life of a Lymie, with mis-diagnosis after mis-diagnosis practically my entire life, as I was most likely infected first with RMSF at the age of 5. For some strange reason (insert eyes rolling back here), I have learned to not trust many in the health care field, and they have to actually prove they are willing to listen & believe me!!
