PSRI, I am very sorry you are going thru this, because I know it is painful and scary. How long have you been in treatment?
I have not been experiencing the same thing as you, but have been experiencing increased pain (esp back, neck, pelvic bones, feet and mouth) and severe psychiatric symptoms that come and go and are unbearable.
I have received strong support here, AND I have been able to link the above to my Amoxicillin. I will get really bad and then will skip a couple of days of Amox and feel better. Then I try it again.
So this is either: Reaction to Amox, herx, or worsening of other symptoms due to a co-infection.
I also wrote the Lyme Association of Greater KC. (because I was begging for a Dr!) I received a nice response from the Secretary (lending credence), telling me that severe herxing often occurs around the 8th week, which may match my issues.
It says, ' This 8th week herx can be especially discouraging, because people expect to be feeling better by then, and they may feel worse than ever.' She also said that insomnia can be part of this herx.
Well, then yahoo. I can try to stick it out.
When I first started researching all this, for some reason I came to believe that a herx was just a 2-3 day type thing and not something that lasted very long or happened repeatedly.
So, I think w/ this disease it must be different w/ everyone.
PSRI, so I hope and will pray that what you are suffering is a productive herx and will be interested to hear what your Dr says.
CajunGrl, many of you remark about things that happen 'when herxing.' How is it that one knows when it is a herx and not some type of worsening of the disease, new symptom, or adverse reaction to the drugs?
I have had 3 days of no Amox and 3 days w/ no depression. Coincidence or significant?
