Question of why would clarithromycin potentially interact with fentanyl patch?

I am in lots of pain as my treatment goes on. I had a bad pain clinic experience where the doctor walked out. Now my family doc is sending me somewhere else, and he said there are many things they can do one was using pain patches since my pain in constant. I was reading about the Fentanyl patch because i am a bad case. I have osteoporosis and osteo-arthritis because of my genetic predisposition combined with undiagnosed Lyme.

Anyway It says talk to your doctor if you are taking macrolide like clarithromycin there is a possibility of interaction.

Does anyone know why? I cant seem to find a reason.

Oh yeah and i'm 25. that is how bad Lyme cn be.

Hey Veronica,

They only thing I could find was that Opioid-induced respiratory depression resulting from transdermal fentanyl-clarithromycin drug interaction in a patient with advanced COPD.

You may want to read this site. It has some very important information. You cannot drink grapefruit juice or eat a grapefruit while on this patch. You cannot use anything that heats, like a heating pad or it can cause very serious side effects. Please read this site before making your decision. This is a VERY serious drug.
