Zoloft for pain?

My LLMD is starting me on Zoloft for mononeuritis multiplex (nerve pain). The pain feels like an all over deep body ache.  She says this is new research and that I probably won't here much about it yet. (It affects the IL6 in the brain so you don't feel the pain??? I think???? )  I started a very low dose today. I will let you guys know if it helps. I sure hope so. I have had this pain for 2 1/2 years now.

  My husband is hoping that it will help with my mood swings. . LOL!

I was told to start with 50 mg but i'm a chicken so I took 25 mg this morning. So far the only thing i've noticed was a dry mouth and bigger pupils. Why would my pupils be bigger?

I was on Zoloft many years ago, and I had terrible side effects.   One being insomnia and many, many, many more probems because of the drug - personally it was h*ll for me coming off the meds.  If you are on it long term you will need to be weaned off.  I will never take anything like that again.  I feel much better withou it!

Antidepressants stay in your body for quite some time, so you could definitely still be having side effects from it. Make sure you consult your doctor before you quit taking it. It is very important that you do not just stop taking this kind of medication. It is quite strange that you had so many symptoms from taking 1 pill? Maybe you are actually allergic or something. Definitely check with your doctor.
Everyone reacts differently to medications. I was on Zoloft for years and all it did was make me "numb" to everything and made me gain 40 lbs. But, I know someone who is taking it now and it helps her drastically. If you can't take the zoloft, try another kind of antidepressant used to treat pain. Living with chronic pain is absolutely terrible and you shouldn't have to do it. So, if there is a shot at making it better? Go for it!
