Doxy and esophagus damage???

Well I didn't heed the advise to not lay down (bedtime) after you take doxy. I didn't really think it mattered. It does matter.. at least for my body it did - I also didn't drink much water that night, just a sip to get the pill down.

For the past 5-6 days I've been having esophagus problems with swallowing liquids and solids, even laughing occasionally hurts.
It feels like something is lodged in my lower throat/esophagus area. I can point to a specific spot near back that hurts every time I swallow.. and I've choked on spit too. It's the very feeling when you swallow something and you think it went down wrong.. but I've had my feeling for days. It's strange to walk around and just feel that sensation. Like something is stuck in there..

I have a dr appt Friday, the closest appt. I expect they either order an endoscopy or an upper GI xray.

Anybody have this happen to them.. ever?

Yeah. I had exactly the same, I knew i should not lay down but i was sick and had fever so i did, and oh did I regret it. It is incredible painful, its exactly as you describe, but it goes quick, just take a few paracetamols, and anti acid and it goes. My pain was so stron that I went to the emergency room, pain makes me vomit and I did through up everything for 24 hours so I was dehydrated and the anti cid and paracetamol did not stay in, but if you are not throwing up the above will suffice. Are u in England? They sell here a product over the counter that repairs the lining of the oesophagus and its good for this. At the moment I am dying to sleep but I am waiting an hour to lay down. :-(

L-glutamine and DGL (licorice) are good for repairing the lining of the esophagus and are available online and in health food stores in the US.

Other soothing stuff includes slippery elm bark and marshmallow root. Of the two, marshmallow root is the least likely to cause drug interactions.
