wher do you live? how did they check?

are they taking out all the sheetrock walls? how did you know you had it? could you see it? was it black? was there specific smell?

Isn't mld deadly for lymers? sounds like a sick house.

I once put cedar particle board in my closets and it off gassed . my house smelled like a hamster cage. i felt like flames were going up my nose at night , like gas. the sides of my mouth had rid cracks going down like the Joker in Batman.

I kept getting u all night to pee. No one else would notice it but me and my friends thought I was nuts. I called a psychic that my friend used when the dog disappeared and she found it over the phone. so anyone she told me over the phone."You have formaldahyde poisining> i hired an OSHA inspector who hung these tubes in closet upstairs and down and he came back week later and told me the formaldahyde off gas owa .05 of what would be illegal for someone to work around 8 hours a day. My lungs were so topped off with it. I think it was also because i bet I had strongyloided in my lungs back then from lyme tick. I sold the house.

Yeah, I was just getting ready to say the same thing. You need to hire a company that ONLY does testing for mold, mildew and fungi so that that their results aren't biased. Companies that do testing AND clean up and removal, most often than not, will tell you that you need a lot of work done when that may not be the case. Good advice tonesg.

By the way, we too plan to hire someone to test our house for mold, etc.

A dehumidifier may be helpful to prevent the mold from coming back if one lives in a humid climate.

Also, frequent cleaning with anti-mold cleaning products can help, as can HEPA air filtration (stand-alone units or central air).

And there are some essential oils that can be diffused in the air to remove mold from the air. Lemongrass is particularly good for this.

Thanks for all the advise everyone. Since we are selling the house anyway we are going to hold off on any treatment and just see if a home inspector will bring it up. If they don't then we will leave well enough alone and sell it as is. It may not be as bad as they said it is. Maybe they just wanted to scare me into thousands of dollars for repair because they were aware of my illness and they said it could very well be my whole problem...... it may be but how will I ever know for sure??? We are ready for a change anyway so now we just need to get it ready and hopefully it will sell soon. Wish us luck!!!
