We lymies have the darnedest stories to tell don't we? Glad you were able to laugh about
it, but I know there's other days you'll probably crying about
it, and if you're like me I'm sure you have days you feel like cursing your head off about
it.
I've been dealing with eye blurriness off and on for several months. I've gone to the eye doctor three times because it was quite worrisome to me when this would happen. All three times the doctor would tell me that everything was fine, however, he said that I had some of the driest eyes he's ever tested. The way the doctor determines if you have dry eyes by taking these paper strips and stick them in the bottom of your eye lid for five minutes. It doesn't hurt at all by the way.
The test revealed that my eyes were extremely dry which surprised me because I didn't really feel that they were very dry. Anyway, the eye doctor suggested I take some eye drops called Refresh Plus Lubricant Eye Drops. He also suggested I purchase a gel for my eyes that comes in a tube. You're supposed to put this goop in the bottom part of your eye lids and sleep through the night with it. Sorry, I forgot the name of it but if you ask your pharmacist about
it I'm sure he/she will be able to tell you what it is. I couldn't get used to doing that because I didn't like the feel of the goop in my eyes so I didn't continue with it. I do use the Refresh Plus Lubricant Eye Drops everyday (about
three to four times daily), and have found them to refresh my eyes and it helps with the blurriness.
Here's something I copied and pasted off of a website that explains what the symptoms of dry eyes are:
* How do I know if I have dry eye syndrome?
--Common symptoms of dry eyes may include dryness, burning and stinging. A foreign body sensation, like sand being in the eye, is often encountered. Your vision can be blurred. Reflex tearing may actually be stimulated resulting in excessively watery eyes. Some patients may experience redness of their eyes. It is not uncommon for your eyes to lose their normal luster and clearness when looking in the mirror.--
So, if you have dry eyes this could very well be what's causing you to have eye blurriness. I notice, for me, the blurriness is worse in the mornings when I wake up. The first thing I do is put drops in my eyes. By the way, I get the ones in a box that have individual plastic packets because they don't have any preservatives in it. I think it's important to avoid preservatives as you never know what long term damage it could possibly cause.
Another thing that I've read about
people with lyme disease, who have eye blurriness, is to drink Mangosteen Juice. I started drinking a couple ounces of it daily a couple of months ago and it does seem to be helping me with the eye blurriness. I still have eye blurriness from time to time, but nothing like it used to be. Not sure if it's the eye drops, the Mangosteen juice, or both that's helping me, regardless, I'm just glad I don't have eye blurriness as bad as I used to.
Maybe this is something that you and others who suffer with this could try and see if it helps you. Many people with lyme disease have eye blurriness, so it seems to be quite common among us lymies. I hope these ideas are helpful to you and to others who suffer with this.
