I have a blended family, my husband has a 13 year old daughter and I have a 19 year old son and a 20 year old daughter. My two and I have positive Lyme tests. Yesterday the 13 year old (who lives with us full time) went to visit her grandparents on their farm now that school is out. She called us in a full on meltdown last night because she found a tick attached to her ear. My husband went to get her today and took her and the tick to the doctor, not LLMD. He is testing her for RMSF and Lyme (ELISA) and sending the tick off to be tested. He gave her Doxycycline (I don't know how much or how long since I am at work and they have to pick up the RX from the pharmacy).
I would love to hear from the group what I should be looking out for at this point, how soon should we get IGENIX tests run, how much Doxy and for how long, and anything else I need to know about treating this situation. My kids and I were sick for a long time before we realized it was Lyme & Friends - I am pretty sure that dealing with this new bite needs to be handled differently that what we are doing for our long term cases. I would love to hear from you guys about what we need to do and watch out for on the youngest now that she has been bitten.
Thanks for your feedback!
