I was diagnosed via western blot on June 22, 2009. I have been on antibiotics and such since then. The only symptom I have left is severe osteoarthritis in both knees. The pain is unmanageable at this time. I tried cortisone injections(with the blessings of my Lyme Doc) and a three week series of Synvisc injections. Nothing is working. Xrays show bone on bone in one knee and severe loss in the other. Only remedy is a replacement but at my age(44) doc doesn't want to touch it. I am so tired of not being able to do anything. Vacuuming sends me to bed for days. Can't go anywhere with the children. Can't ride in the car long. It has taken everything from me, including my spirit.

Hi Momtomonsters,
With that kind of damage, I think I would be looking for a doc that was willing to do something for me.

I agree with Traveler. 44 is not old. I don't understand why he doesn't want to do the surgery.

I think the doc is thinking too young, not too old CG. The reason being is that they do not last forever and would possibly need to be done again. So, they put it off when possible. However, I have a friend who's son had juvenile lupus and had a hip replacement at 20. So, I would look for a doc that was willing to do the surgery, they are out there. Good luck~

Thanks for explaining. That makes alot more sense. I would definitely find someone who would do it since the pain is so unbearable.
