Hi all

I am yet to be diagnosed with Lyme Disease, however after much investigation, I have recently stumbled across some strange coincidences regarding Brain lesions and Lyme.

I have spoken to many Lyme sufferers and I have learnt that a lot of them who have previously had a brain MRI, had white matter lesions on their brain and they were later diagnosed as having small vessel disease. This is exactly what has happened to me following an MRI. I was wondering if these lesions are in fact caused by lyme and have been mis-diagnosed or perhaps Lyme can attribute to small vessel disease.

I would be interested to hear from anyone with Lyme who has had a similar diagnosis from a brain MRI.

Yes, these lesions can be caused by Lyme disease. MS, alzheimers, and other brain disorders can be misdiagnosed instead of Lyme because of the similar appearance on brain imaging studies. And in fact, some researchers suggest that Neuro-Lyme disease may be one significant cause of some of these disorders.

If one has these lesions, will they be permanent? Or will treatment of Lyme make them better??

I also wonder about the small vessel disease as I have too have lesions on my brain and alot of neuro symptoms. But I also have a lot of trouble with my left eye and when i wento to neuro-opth she said I had small blood vessel in that eye.

Springsjean - I have problems with my left eye too, what are your left eye symptoms?
