Breast pain and Lyme

Does anyone out there get breast pain with lyme?

I think mine is just a nerve pain which is in my back, neck, shoulder, arm and underarm, but it radiates into my breast and ribs, its so uncomfortable and painful, has anyone else experienced this?

I have the breast pain also, on and off. I am schedualed for an ultrasound next week. We'll see how it goes. I am breastfeeding, so it might be something related to that, but only one breast has a hard spot on it, so my obgyn sent me for an US. No pain in my ribs, but pretty much everywhere else, including hands and feet, head, back etc  Strangely enough, the "problem breast" does not give me enough milk, either.  VERY little!

I have the breast pain, the rib pain, the in-between the ribs pain, and of course don't leave out the other places you mentioned. These are common for those with tick-borne illnesses, but you ALWAYS want to be sure it's not something else before assuming it's just due to LD!!

Thanks for the advice guys, It only effects my left breast, but is so painful, but most of my pain is left sided anyway.

I too had an Ultrasound last month for the same reason, they did find a lump, but mine was ok, am due to go back for a re-check in 3 months, I was also breast feeding a year ago and I had the same problems as you with the milk.

Try not to worry too much about it, I'm sure at will all be fine, probably just due to breast feeding or the Lyme. Please do let us know how you get on in the exam, best of luck

I can't even tell you how badly my breasts hurt sometimes...I actually just recently posted something else on this topic. The pain varies and is worse sometimes than others. Sometimes the skin feels like a bad sunburn, sometimes it hurts just to move, sometimes it hurts to touch, and sometimes I can't even shower because just the water, or washing, is too much.

Like Traveler, I also have a lot of rib pain - that's where my illness began and that's where it's consistently been the worse sensitivity, tenderness, and pain. I also get chest pain off and on, but it's been better in recent months.

Mine ache and have gotten bigger, but I think it's menopause. I recently had a mammogram, so I don't think I have anything to worry about but I get sick of the discomfort.

Unfortunately, I understand all too well what you are describing!! My skin will actually hurt so bad that it hurts to have clothes on!!!

Glad to hear that you have had a reprieve from some of your pain!!

Caldonia ~ giggle!!! I wish mine would get big enough to actually have a cup size!!! No luck yet, though!!

Yes too weird !!

I have the rib pain off and on too. Lyme really likes connective tissue and there's lots of it in the ribcage. One day my right underarm will hurt, the next day it will be somewhere else. Sometimes it feels like someone's punched me in the chest. I've never had the hot red skin though. That sounds more like a die off thing - herx. I take lots of detox stuff when that does happen. Chlorella is really good for that.

Caldonia and Traveler - I'm having the boob pain/discomfort as we speak. Sometimes they do feel swollen and I'm not breast feeding. Lyme also really messes with pituitary function which controls all the hormone levels in our body. I'm on a birth control pill daily to help with this.

Simela, did you have active Lyme during your pregnancy? How's the baby doing? I have a 5 year old son and didn't find out I had Lyme til 2 1/2 yrs ago. By the grace of God, he has no problems!! But he still has to be either a carrier or his immune systems been able to keep it in check. Hopefully, he'll never express symptoms.

I get rib pain, and pain between my ribs too. Twice I hurt something by twisting the wrong way; got a searing pain that lasted for weeks. Awful. I never linked it with Lyme & co-bugs before.

Breast pain bothers me less now that I've transitioned (via hysterectomy) through menopause, but back when my hormones were more active, I had a lot of trouble with that. Weird about the breastfeeding. I had a problem breast, too, also on the left. It would get clogged and it hurt a lot.

I am so glad to know other people have suffered from rib pain and sensitivity...wish I had found y'all sooner! I remember when I first got sick, in October 2007, my ribs felt like I had been run over by a Mac truck and felt like the blackest bruise possible. I always say I spent six months just pacing my apartment, screaming...and I did - I couldn't sleep, could sit down, couldn't lie down, couldn't bathe, couldn't stand a shirt or sheet touching the skin on my left flank. It was crazy! Even when my boyfriend would visit me, he'd sleep in the bed and I'd sleep on my sectional couch where I could push the cushions apart and lay so that my left side was sort of hanging between and not touching! I still have days when it's pretty bad, and I can't stand anyone to even touch my ribs lightly (even the doctor knows not to place the stethoscope there!) but nothing like it was, and of course I've been treating the pain and inflammation...

I remember looking online for "pain in ribs" and "pain in left side" and the only thing I could find was forum after forum of people who had no diagnosis...and I remember thinking to myself, "this isn't good." Now that I know what I know, I wonder if all those people were dealing with Lyme.

Obviously I'm not alone on this one! I think the breast pain for me was one of the first ever symptoms, though mine is only on the left side.

Do others only have one sided pain? I do get odd pains cropping up all over, but my worst problems are always on my left side.

I had a crazy night last night, I have a very fast heart beat, and while trying to sleep I kept getting this wooshing sound in my ear, I realized it was actually my heart beat, but it sounded like a helicopter wooshing in the distance, very annoying and kept me up all night!

rib pain seems to also be common, mine do not feel bruised but more like nerve pain!

Yes, my rib pain was in just my left side. I've had some less severe pain in the right side off and on at times, but the first year (the rib pain) was probably in the left side alone...in the front and wrapping around to the back.

I've also experienced MANY episodes of my heart beating so fast it's scares the living daylights out of me. I usually (automatically) take a deep breath and it stops... I've also had the thumping in my ears - not sure if it's the same as you're describing, but it's very annoying and I'm always curious what the heck is causing it...

Like I've said before, the more I learn, the less likely I would rule out ANY symptoms to be related to Lyme...it's just amazing what this illness can cause...it breaks you down, systemically.
