NEW.SCARED.NEED HELP.

I just recently found out I have lyme. Its only been about a week and a half and its finally sinking in that this is real. I have a million things going on in my head. My main symptoms were fatigue, headaches, bruising. I went in to the dr's for a physical, my reflexes were so bad. When they hit your knee with the instrument my legs never went up. That was pretty scary. The dr. tested me for lyme, the IgG came back positive and i've been taking doxycycline for a week now. Aside from the fatigue I have bad pain and aches in my legs, especially my calves. I'm so scared that this isnt going away. Is this a symptom of me having the lyme for a long time? Am I always going to have this pain? Also I have an 8 month old son. My pediatrician doesnt think its necessary to test him bc she said we would have known  immediately if he had it, he would have shown signs and thank goodness he hasnt. I guess my other questions is does this mean I cant have any more children?   Should I see a specialist for further testing?

Without a bullseye rash it is hard to know how long you have had lyme. I never got a rash or tick bite site so I didn't know I had lyme for almost 5 years, having had symptoms for 3 years before I was diagnosed. It's good that you have started treatment. you should continue treatment until your symptoms are gone. You can get better with treatment. I know it is scary right now. I have been there. But it won't always be this way. I have a 2 1/2 year old so I know it's hard enough to be a mom nevermind be a sick mom. I had my daughter tested when she was born and again at 6 months and 1 year just to be on the safe side. She is perfectly healthy too so chances are you son is too, but you can always have him tested when he goes for his blood work check-up too. It can't hurt. And yes, you can certainly have more children. I plan to have more (I am 35 now) but would like another one very soon. If you plan to have more children and are still treating your lyme, you can take amoxicillin during pregnancy to prevent it from passing to the baby.

We are here if you have more questions. I have been through hell and back with this disease and am here to share my knowledge as well as others and to let you know you can get through it and come out on the other side too.

I have terrible calf pain, too! All I can tell you is that if it were me, I would absolutely have my kids tested...I would even have my CAT tested if I was at all concerned. This disease is very scary to me because I know the tortuous pain it has caused.
