Very Confusing Diagnostic, blood draw for Igenex..

Hi all,
I have been getting confusing diagose from my Docs about Lyme. Until now I knew I had Lyme because my previous PCP told me I had it from the western band result. Now that I know a little bit more about Lyme, I was able to get and read the result. My result shows that my IMg has band 41 present and the IgG also have band 41 present which is interpreted as Negative for Lyme (I have no other present band beside 41) my current PCP explain to me that I was negative from the beginning and thats also what I get from what I have been reading all over the internet. So my current PCP dont think I ever had Lyme and that my previous doctor was wrong (and by ready the lab result I would agree with him),However I have a LOT of Lyme symptoms: joins pains, fatigue, flu symtomps, numbness, stifness, shaking hands,headache,many other weird pains that I cant explain :( I have made an apoitment with and LLMD but it is till end of November...meanwhile I am on ceftin & plaquenil for the moment, my PCP asked me to stop since he said I dont have lyme but I am taking them anyway...Btw the last EIA test was negative so they didnt do western blot..

Anyway, I am very very confused and I dont feel like waiting till my LLMD apointment,I was thinking about ordering an Igenex lab test, I have a friend who is a doctor who can prescribe that to me but, he is not in the area...can anyone tell me if this is feasable? where can I get just blood work done so that I can send it to Igenex? can I just walking in a clinic for something like that for that?? I live in the DC,VA,MD area,any suggestion would be welcome!!!

On the other side,I have the feeling that I may have lyme afterall :(, I have a friend from who is currently in a 3rd word country where ABX are very cheap, and he can bring me some ABX in a week or so, do you have any suggestion of what to take with my symptomps above? I know it is not the best way but my PCP don't want to prescribe any ABX and my LLMD apoitment is like in 2months I need to take something meanwhile....

Hi Lyanna, the results from a western blot are very difficult to interpret, that's why it's important to see an LLMD. As for the band 41 result this is what www.Canlyme.com says it is......

"The band at 41 kDa corresponds to Bb's flagella (the whip like organelles used for locomotion -- Bb has several) and is one of the earliest to show up on the Western blots of Lyme disease patients. But for some reason it is also the most commonly appearing band in control subjects. This may be due to the fact that many people are exposed to spirochetes at some time in their lives and so their sera might cross react with this protein."

In my none-expert opinion and a sufferer for over 4 years do not take your current PCP's opinion, that you are negative for LD as being right until you see your LLMD. At sometime you have been infected with some kind of spirochetal bacteria as you have a + band 41, very possibly it could be Bb.
