Bucci,
My understanding is that EBV causes Mono, altho it seems that some Drs and some people equivocate the 2. Someone, please correct me if I'm wrong.
I recently had re-contact w/ an old friend from highschool who said she had been sick for about 2 years and it took them 2 years to figure out that she had 'chronic mono'. Now whether or not she had Lyme or anything else is unknown. I wrote to her about Lyme and she said she'd look into it, but she is now well.
I'm thinking that when those numbers are high, most Drs just read what the lab says, which is always 'past infection'. If she had mono for 2 years and they coudn't figure it out, that kind of supports my case.
Still, it makes no sense that Drs can't diagnose this and we're all in the dark here. Probably because it is not very common, altho it's probably common for those of us w/ Lyme, CFS, and mayb Fibro -- stuff like that.
Here is an example: Both my Babs Microti and WA1 were high, out of range. The lab interpretation said indicative of 'past infection'. The interpretation goes on to state that numbers that high are found in acute infections. What sense does this make? My Dr said the Babesias are still active infections that require treatment.
