Hello
I'm new here. My name is Marzena and i am from Poland.I know that I have Lyme disease since April but probably I've had it for 10 years.For 10 years i was cured for MS.Treatmet MS have distroyed me stomach (steroids) that i can't use antybiotics now.When i take them after 2 weeks i must stop because of stomach.:-(I hope that i'll find some good advices here -maybe some natural treatment. Sorry for my English:-)

Welcome to our forum!!! I am so very sorry to hear that you have been ill for so long, but I am sure glad you found us!! A lot of us here have had to go through mis-diagnosis and being under-treated, as well.

I am sure you will find us to be a caring, understanding and helpful group! One of the most important things to understand is that you must now be your own health advocate - reading up on what you have & being very involved in your treatment.

A great place to start is by reading the thread at the top of the forum titled, "New to Lyme?... Start Here!", as it has a lot of really helpful info as well some good links.

I prefer to use Dr. Joseph Burrascano's "Advanced Topics on Lyme Disease" as it is written in a way that I can understand all except my worst of days. There are many other well-respected Lyme-literate Medical Doctors that have published their treatment strategies that you can learn about & refer to.

Since you are from Poland (Wow, by the way) please forgive us if we don't understand some things like what the process of getting in to see a specialist, or things like that. No one here is a Medical Doctor, so we can't tell you what to do, but we can sure explain to you what we have had experience with!! Should you have any questions about something that is posted here on this forum, for any reason, feel free to ask!!!!

In my opinion. one of the first things you should understand is that with that many years of steroid use, your case of tick-borne infections (tbi's) have been driven "deeper" into your body. It is quite possible that you will not test positive by blood test for tick-borne infections for a while - but this shouldn't be much of a problem, as these infections are supposed to be diagnosed clinically (by symptoms). Are you already under the care of a Lyme-literate Medical Doctor (LLMD)? If not you will want to get in to see one as soon as possible.

You mentioned abx. Are you or have you taken any for your tbi's (tick-borne infections)? Abx is far from being the only modality of treatment!!! For example, I am using Acupuncture, Western Herbology, along with Traditional & Modern Chinese Medicine. Other here use Homeopathic Docs, and some use a combination of abx and herbs/homeopathics along with it.

So it just depends on what route you wish to use for your healing.

Hi Marzena,

Welcome to the forum! I don't know if this was mentioned or not but are you taking probiotics? When you take antibiotics, it kills the bad bacteria along with the good bacteria, so taking probiotics puts the good bacteria back in your body and balances out everything. It will help your stomach to not get so upset when you take your antibiotics.

Thanks for answeres.Yes i had blood tests.All are positive.The lowest is WB but while doing this test i was taking steroids.The result was 18(Igm).Later i did Elisa -first 364RU/ml(IGM) and second 450RU/ml(IGM).I don't know what unit u have there but here we use RU units and my result is ENERMOUS.After getting results of blood test i went to my neurologist to show her but she she told me that i have both Ms and Lyme disease, because my IGG is negative.But i started Lyme treatment in ILADS doctor(its like your LLMD).I had begun the treatment from taking Doxycycline and cefuroxinum lateri took rifampicyn with cefuroxinum and Azithromycinum with doxycykline and with Fluconazolum and all the time Nystatyna (against Candidia).I was usuning also probiotics.Although i was taking lower dose of antybiotics that other( i have had stomach reflux and inflammation of the gastric mucosa for 8 years) however my stomach rebelled.So i finished the treatment-i did breake.Currently i take colloidal silver, multivitamins and
SCHINDELE’S"MINERALS.Lyme disease treatment in this method -long term antybiotics- is very expensive here ,no discounts on drugs.Only few of doctors here cure Lyme disease by ILADS method.Rest of them considers only short term of antybiotics-about 28 days.Here is like this.How is there where u live?

Tick-borne infections & the treatment of them is very political here in the United States. A few Lyme-literate docs over here have lost their license to practice medicine simple because they were trying to treat with long-term abx. This has many other LLMD's very nervous about treating with long term abx as well.

Most of our docs over here wouldn't recognize LD or other tick-borne infection symptoms if they had them themselves. We even have docs that have no clue what a picture perfect bull's-eye rash means! All of this is what goes on in my little section of this country!! Nationally it is a much worse picture in my opinion.

There have been a couple of studies done on MS patients receiving abx treatment for LD. Something like 20 or 30 % have dramatic improvements. The thinking here - from what I could understand - is that these people actually never had MS, but tick-borne infections presenting as MS.

As far as other treatment options, have you looked into any of the protocols that you can do yourself at home?

If you will go into our thread at the top of the forum titled "New to Lyme?...Start here!" , down near the bottom of the page you will see some posts about alternative medicines and different "Alternative Medicine" books. Using this info you could search the internet easily enough to find out more on their specific protocols.

I am using Chinese Acupuncture as well as Western herbs, and Traditional & Modern Chinese Medicine to help me heal, as abx made me soooo very ill! I have had my infections for several decades, though.

You might also consider looking into Rife machine technology. I know a local person who got Lyme in Germany (where she's originally from) but now is doing very well due to the use of a Rife machine.

I'm shocked what i read!!I though that in US doctors consider Lyme treatment in other way than here, but i see that it's the same.But i must say that I noticed that more and more general practitioner consider long-term treatment as effective.Here much people with Lyme use herbals from Buhner's protocol.They bring them from US, ozone thereapy, magno therapy, acupuncture and much amount of vitamins.
Here also a lot of people are mis-diagnosed(like me).

Hi Marzena and welcome again to the forum.

MS and Lyme disease can look the same on an MRI. They both cause lesions to form in the brain. When radiologists see these lesions, they think "MS" cause that's all they know. So if your neurologist used MRI results to make an MS diagnosis, then they may be wrong.

Once again, the info in the "New to Lyme" thread is a must read!
