is your muscle pain like mine and might it be babesia and not lyme?

Hi, all. Just up again thinking about what is wrong with my body and how to find the answer. I am so curious if anyone feels like I do. My muscles are so sensitive to touch. If my child pokes me, it is like torture. If I bump into something, the pain is exquisite. My rib cage is so tender to touch, as are my inner and outer thighs. But, just sitting here, they don't hurt at all No ache...nothing like those deep aches one feels with the flu. It's only if I scratch myself through cloth...direct scratching is ok, or if too much focused pressure (pointed finger, not flat palm) touches me. I do get the lactic acid burning feeling with just the most minor of muscle use sometimes, like brushing my hair or folding towels. But, I don't ache just sitting or walking. Is that similar to any of you, or should I be looking for another answer.

There was a time during treatment when I got a little better...I say a little, because it was my exercise tolerance that got better, but not the muscle thing. I was on zithromax and mepron. It was the best I'd felt in 20 years. I know that combo is used for Babesia. Anybody else, with blood smear or PCR proven babesiosis, have muscles issues like me?

Hi DocGP,

You may want to look up the symptoms for Fibro. I have the same symtoms as you and I was diagnosed with Fibro. Although, most of us know that something else causes it, I'd suggest you to see a Rheumatoligist so that they can get you diagnosed and help you with the pain because it sometimes gets worse. It started out for me just hurting when someone grabbed my arm or if I bumped into something. Now, my muscles hurt constantly. I can barely wash my head without my arm muscles hurting so bad. Get it checked out soon so you don't have to suffer.

Btw, this all started for me during treatment of Lyme Disease. I also started getting very fatigued as well. I think the antibiotics I was taking, sent the bacteria hiding in my muscles and joints. It's too much of a coincidence.

Yes sounds like fibro to me. I have alot of muscle pain and twitching but not sore to the touch. I was always told that when you have "tender points" that it was fibro. Feel better.

Also, your rib cage pain could be what's called Costochondritis. Many with Lyme disease and Fibro have this. You can google it to look up the symptoms.

never heard of this Costco thing but I sure do FEEL it.

Cajun , so what was your rhemi remedy for this?

I know you also saw that post I sent ??? The new cure for arthritis book that talks about it being viral, fungal or bacterial.

Gee, Doc, i am so sorry to hear you are having these symptoms. I have had exact symptoms intensely for over 10yrs.

Did you see TTB post about the BWF? today. 103.3 fever. have you heard any good about this stuff?

Hey bucci,

Glad I could help:) For costochondritis, normally it heals on it's on, but for some of us the treatment is usually steroids, which is not good for people with Lyme. So, I would not suggest going there unless you really have to. I tried Emu Oil and it does help.

Yes, this is a symptom of Fibromyalgia. But sometimes other things can mimic this symptom. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and then discovered that Magnesium supplements made all my fibro symptoms decrease a lot. So it might be worth looking in to nutritional imbalances or deficiencies to make sure there isn't another reason for your symptoms that is easier to correct than nebulous syndromes...(please forgive my sarcasm here...).

Another thought is that the Lyme bacteria produce toxins as a part of their natural life cycle. These toxins can cause or contribute to a lot of the symptoms we feel as a part of the disease, and most certainly contribute to "herx" symptoms. My point is that a good detox routine might help, and might be more effective than pain medication.

BTW, I never found pain meds made a dent in my sensitivity to touch...the magnesium works wonders for me, though.

So I have the symptoms described as DocGP. Same exact. My question is - could it be Babesia Duncani infection? I never had these symptoms until I had all the Lyme symptoms so I am thinking it is an infection of some sort. The reason I mention Duncani is because I tested positive for that. When I take artemesinin in a high dose - my muscles feel extremely fatigued and sore. I am just wondering if there is a connection. Or if anyone else has tested for Duncani and has the symptoms that DocGP described in this post. I should clarify I don't get pain from fabric or things touching me. Just the poking from kids, etc and sore spots that were never there before. Anyways...so I guess, DocGP, I get these muscles pains like you and Babesia Duncani is in my clinical picture (haven't really treated it yet, either).  I don't get the classic Babesia Microti (and Babesia) symptoms of air hunger, drenching night sweats.  But I do get chills, lack of energy (fatigue and motivation), stabbing pains, hormonal imbalance (around time of month), occasional nausea and this type of muscle pain.

DocGP and SLML, I know this was posted several years ago, but I was just wondering if you guys ever figured out your issues or resolved them. I am having similar issues and have tested positive for Babesia via Igenex, but also have Mag deficiency. I have begun taking Mag, however, I feel as if it actually exacerbates my muscle spasms and tightness! I know it is supposed to do the opposite and relax.

I haven't seen either of those posters around for a long while but maybe they set the thread to alert them with new posts and will hopefully read your post.

I wanted to share with you that I took low dose naltrexone (LDN) successfully for these symptoms--seems to hit the neuro issues pretty well. We've had a couple of good conversations about LDN here if you'd like to do a search.
