Hi

I'm on a weekly shot of 500mg of Rocephin and now my doc added two 300mg of Rifampin daily to my antibiotics treatment.

For those on it,  you can't drink...period? Not even a glass of something? Just wondering. I would gladly stop anything for my health, that's not a problem.

I have UC ulcerated colitis as well as lyme's or is a bacteria driven from the Lyme's? My doc can't really say. However, we are trying this protocol since for 6 LONG YEARS if I ate anything I would have severe gas and bloating, but since my rocephin shots, no more, it's been a miracle for me! I could just cry. Now hopefully Rifampin will help my body more. yeah

I take a TON of Natren Superdophilis, around 3 tablespoons a day and it seems to help the gut inflammation as well.

The first time I was on Rifampin the instructions said to limit alcohol. When I was on it again, they said no alcohol.

As I understand it, they are covering themselves; some people do not do well having alcohol with Rifampin. The drug is hard on the liver and alcohol is another challenge for the liver. It is not like Flagyl, however, where even a sip will cause a violent reaction.

I personally found an occasional small glass of wine was not harmful and helped with relaxation. As you say, though, giving up alcohol is a small price to pay.

So glad to hear you are getting some relief from your symptoms.
