I'm relapsing very hard after showing a fair amount of improvement (during most of 2010).  I'm thinkin of going back on IV.   I could afford to pay out of pocket for the meds but probably not for the PICC line.  Would insurance cover this a second time? 

FYI.  I got sick about 3 years ago.  Have been on a variety of oral meds and IVs.  Showed the most improvement with IV rocephin and IV doxy (Dec 2009-Feb 2010).

So sorry to hear about the relapse!
What antibiotics/herbals are you on right now? My LLMD treats with orals after IV til symptom free for 6 weeks, then slowly weans off orals.

You would have to call your insurance company and ask about the PICC line. If they say no, you have the right to appeal to your states Insurance Commission Board.

I started showing symptoms in May 2008 and have been on meds since Aug 2008. (when I found an LLMD). I'm now on IV azithromycin which is going well. I was on Rocephin in December that was kicking big time Lyme butt, but then it also kick some gallbladder butt and I lost my sense of taste for 2 months.

I would talk to your LLMD about trying Bicillin injections before going the IV route again. I'm allergic to Penicillin so can't do bicillin, that's why I went the IV route.

I'm so sorry to hear that you have relapsed, Needshelp!!

I agree with LupnerRN about the need to call your insurance.

I wish I had some suggestions for the abx treatment! Sorry.
