hey Kimmie, it's sounds like from your first post that you may have had Lyme for some time now. A month of doxy is only for those who've had a tick bite and started treatment within 7-14 days of that bite. Otherwise, the treatment is completely different.

If you've had Lyme for much longer than a month, or don't know how long you've had it, then no, 1 month of medications is not enough.

If you've tested positive for Lyme once, it doesn't really matter if you're tested again or not. The decision to start and stop treatment and what medication to use is not dependent on testing. It's not 100% accurate and CAN NOT be a determining diagnostic tool. If you have Lyme symptoms, then you treat for Lyme.

Your doctor doesn't sound like a Lyme literate MD. It's really important to your recovery process that you find one. This can not be understated enough. Only you and a LLMD together will be able to determine, based on your symptoms, when you should stop your meds. There's no standard length of time for treatment. My personal LLMD usually treats until at least 6 weeks of no symptoms, then slowly weans you off all meds.

Read your previous post for more info. You'll start feeling a lot less anxious after researching more about Lyme. Knowledge is power. With Lyme you have to be your own advocate!!

Keep taking the doxy until you find an LLMD. It's better than nothing. Read the Burrascano Lyme guidelines found in the "new to Lyme" post. It can help you get started with suppliments you can find on your own. It's very important to be as healthy as possible. Start probiotics, decrease and stop caffeine, sugar, alcohol, junk foods, etc. Drink tons of water.

Kimmie, to answer your question, no, it makes no sense whatsoever. It just shows that this doctor knows nothing about Lyme disease. If you follow his advice you very well may end up being more sick than you are now. Please, for your sake, and the sake of your family, see an LLMD immediately for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

By the way, do you remember when you were bit by a tick? Did you notice a bullseye rash at anytime after the tick bite? I didn't see anything about that in your first post. I might have missed it but it would be good to know how long ago you were bit as that would give us an idea when you got infected.
