I no longer could stand the constant stiff neck I've had (right side only) for over 7 months. Ordinary massage never made it better and antibiotics don't make a difference either, even though most Lyme symptoms are gone.
So......I had a deep tissue massage in my neck where PT found many very painful knots and trigger points. More were revealed as the massage went on.
She actually got deep into my neck where the pain was originating from. Hurt like heck!
But relief did come! Neck felt waaaaaay better! Not 100%, but better than it's ever been since onset.
However.....when I got home I noticed the SKIN on top of my shoulder and my collarbone area and part of neck went completely numb!
Just the skin....nothing deeper. It doesn't hurt and there is no problem with range of motion or anything else. Muscles are fine-- no tingling sensation in arm or hands.....
.....just numb skin!
It's almost been 24 hours with no change. Still numb! Has to be a nerve problem??????? Could this be a danger sign....of something?
Quite scary! Did PT sever a nerve? Or cause an impingement?
I'm seeing my LLMD tomorrow and will ask about this for sure....
.... but I was wondering if anyone else has ever gotten a patch of numb skin from deep massage anywhere on their body?
