Hi Amarie!!
Welcome to the forum!!! I am so sorry that you have a need to be here, but you have come to a great place!!! I'm sure you will find us to be a caring, helpful and understanding group!!! The best piece of advise that you can be given is to read! Read everything you can get your hands on about
tick-borne infections (TBI's)!!
As Achievinggrace has said, reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled
"New to Lyme?...Start here!!" would be a great thing to do to get you started, as it is packed full of relevant information and informative links that have been put together by our members here! We also have a pretty good search function on this forum to help you narrow down your search for information from past posts.
What kind of a doc are you seeing now? You will need to see a specialist that actually knows something about
these types of infections as they are very complicated and tricky. You will need to see a doc that follows ILADS guidelines (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society), as they are the
only ones who actually follow scientific evidence for treatment. You can find a link to the ILADS guidelines in the "New to Lyem?" thread, but I'll post it here for you as well:
www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/treatment_guidelines_clearing_ilads.html Another link that I would like to suggest that you read through right away is for Dr. Joseph Burrascano's paper titled "Advanced Topics in Lyme Disease", as it explains a lot about
not only Lyme Disease, but the other tbi's that are frequently found along with Lyme: Bartonella, Babesia, Ehrlichia, and others. Again, this can be found in the "New to Lyme?" Thread, but here is a link as well:
betterhealthguy.com/joomla/images/stories/PDF/lymdxrx2008-october.pdf. After reading through those things you will have a fairly good foundation to build your knowledge of Lyme Disease and it's antibiotic (abx) treatment to build on - in my opinion.
Of course there are other ways besides abx to treat these infections. I use Acupuncture, Western Herbology, Homeopathic medicine, and Traditional and Modern Chinese Medicine for my treatment, and things are going well for me. One of the most frustrating part of these infections is that each person's treatment that works for them will be different than almost everyone else's treatment. In each person is their own unique set of physical weaknesses and strengths. Two of my weakest points have been my intestines and my gallbladder. Yours may be very different. Fortunately though, there are a lot of similarities that we can usually help with.
Have you started any kind of treatment yet? You should read this article titled "Lyme Toxins, The Primary Cause of Your Symptoms" by Dr. David Jernigan. Here is a link to that article:
findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0ISW/is_285/ai_n19170382/?tag=content;col1. In the "New to Lyme?" thread you will find complete instructions on how to do several different types of detox bathes. The other things that we highly recommend for detoxing are dry skin brushing, and drinking
lots of lemon water. Lemon water actually helps to correct the alkaline/acidic balance in our bodies, since Tick-borne infections (TBI's) reeks havoc on that as well.
Now that I have bombarded you with info!!
Sorry, there is just sooo much to share!! Please do let us know about
you and your illness - we are all here for support, and to give support!!
Once again, welcome to our little spot!!!
