My doc told me I am the most deficient person in Vitamin D he has ever seen, and being deficient in one nutrient can affect they way you absorb others. In the case of Vitamin D, I wouldn't absorb calcium very well, which would in turn make it difficult for my body to use other nutrients. I can't get out in the sun to get enough (few people can get enough that way, anyway, unless they work outside). and my gut doesn't seem to be absorbing nutrients effectively, so I am having to get shots now. The rest of my vites are by IV these days.
I am a nutritionist and put together a list of vitamins, what the different names are, what they do and what food they come from which was adopted by the Kent Public School system in Washington State and a number of private schools. You can see and print a copy at www.pgnccw.com and click on "food sources of vitamins and minerals". It is written in an easy to understand format. It is helpful because it lists what can happen if you are deficient in a certain nutrient. Funny, I actually first wrote this the same week I became infected with Lyme, which was 10 years ago. Good thing I wrote it then, because I wouldn't be able to write it now.
