Weakness And fatigue after eating

Has anyone ever felt this? Ive been finding lately that after I eat I get extremely tired where i can barely keep my eyes open, almost out of nowhere. Could this be gluten intolerance, herx etc I'm not sure if anyone has experienced this.

I'm glad I came here today; within the first few posts I'm reading something that I could have written verbatim.

I usually likened it to being hit over the head with a shovel. If I battle for an hour or so, at times actually holding my eyelids open with my fingers, I will have a normal night. If I ever succumb to the sudden fatigue I wake up hours later feeling like a bomb went off inside me, wishing I had stayed awake. It's the most intense, most non-specific feeling of general maliase I could possibly imagine.

I paid very close attention to my diet and couldn't liken it to anything specific. Even the amount of food had nothing to do with it. I started eating faster and immediately trying to go for a walk, leaving food out/dishes on the table/etc. This usually works, but on days where going for a walk is impossible it's back to holding my eyelids open. Makes me wish I had one of those machines from A Clockwork Orange to hold them open for me...

i notice that i have uncomfortable symptoms while eating, like i feel as if the food wont go down or the chewing/swallowing process isnt working. is this more nerve related?

Hi, this is very strange. I get this most of the time. The feeling comes on almost suddenly. I have been trying to find an explination for this for a while.

Depending on where the feeling of a lump is located, it could be your thyroid (about the middle of the throat area) or it could be the glands that surround your throat (which are located at the top of the throat). I told my Acu doc that it felt like I had 1/2 a bubblegum ball stuck to the back side of my throat and she felt my throat in that area and handed me a tincture to take to help 'flush' my lymph glands.

I have also had pills, food, or whatever I'm trying to swallow get 'stuck' about 1/2 way down my throat, which turned out to be that my thyroid was quite swollen. I discovered I had Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and am now taking a Thyroid Supplement that has reduced the swelling.

I have also just had trouble swallowing a few times. My hubby had to do a Heimlich maneuver on me a couple of weeks ago!! GEEZZZZ!! Scared the beejeebers out of me!! - and him!! I had tried to swallow my night-time pills and he was already dozing. I shook him until he woke, then pointed - rather frantically - at my throat!!! He jumped up and did what needed to be done. We were both wide awake for another thirty minutes after that though!!!

Could you be experiencing air hunger, where you can't seem to quite catch your breath? Or are you truly having trouble breathing? If it's the latter, you should get checked out by a doc to be sure that it's not something else -but it could be a symptom of TBI's.
