Arm lump, a new symptom?

Here I am again, still confused and trying to figure out the herxes and symptoms etc.

I have not yet learned when to be concerned.

I just noticed a lump on my forearm in line with the thumb, located about 5 inches up from the wrist bone.

Could something like this be related to lyme and co also?

There is no color to it, I just happened to feel it.  It is about 1 1/2 inch long.

I do not want to google it because it will have me thinking I have cancer or something.

And I already know all the stuff lyme can cause...

Is this something I need to deal with?  Or just watch it?

Could it be a cyst, tumor, clot?  I have no idea why it even got there.

Has anyone else got anything like this?

Not sure if this matters but I have had weakness on that arm all day and pain in the neck/shoulder area.

 oh and it is getting number and weaker as I sit here.

now it is kinda scaring me. 

I despise feeling so scared and helpless all the time of this disease.

Try not to panic. It is so hard with this disease as it can cause so many different symptoms. When do you go back to the doctor? Perhaps you can call and mention to them and see if they can get you in to set your mind at ease. Also, if you can take a picture. I always took a picture of every rash any of us had and it really goes a long way when it disappears and you have to explain it to the doctor.

An increase of cysts of all sorts is noted if you look at any of the large population studies of Lyme patients vs the general public. I remember seeing many types; everything from ovarian, ganglion (sounds kind of like yours) and bone cysts being very prevalant. I originally stumbled into lyme research after I kept having bone cysts pop up on imaging and kept having doctors insist there was no possible way the cysts could be related to each other or related to the dozens of other symptoms that were starting to break me down. I can't find the study I'm thinking of, but there was more than one I found showing the same thing.

I know if you mention every little thing you'll overwhelm your doctor at each visit, but it sounds like its worth having on the radar. It's probably harmless, but it should be checked out and monitored.

Well, I go back for my 2nd visit with this llmd. I will keep that in mind and try not to overwhelm him with my questions and I don't want to mention every little thing.

I am hoping to get some of my questions answered tho as I have concerns. I know I will only have 15 minutes with him so I must be organized with my thoughts so as to get the most from him.

I do still have this soft lump on forearm and it doesnt move-almost like it is a ball of fat in there... probably is harmless but it just got there.

Then there is the fact that I have all the symptoms of blood clots in my calfs. I figured they are not clots because it is on each leg but sure did hurt to walk and calfs were swelled. scary.

then there is the fact that altho I have babesia, there sure seems like bart symptoms coming out of nowhere! Wow this is too overwhelming.

Oh and then there is this concern that I have not had my liver, kidney etc etc checked for 5 months now. Someone told me they should be monitored regularly. I wonder if I should mention that.

So I just think I must figure out what is the most pressing issue at hand. I do know he will probably mention the iv rocephin possibility that may be in my future. ugh

15 minutes sure goes fast with a complicated disease like this.

then after my 15 minute visit, I get the iv vit c/glutiothone for the first time. I am terribly afraid of ivs but I am actually excited to get it because I have heard wonderful things about it.
I have butterflies just thinking about all this.

How in the world do you all seem to handle all this stuff so well??? I am still trying to make sense of it all and get a good handle on things. Its gonna take awhile

Hah! we may sound like we are handling things but I am sure we all have our "moments" off line. A wee cry in the bathtub, a whine to our spouse in the middle of the night, maybe a complete breakdown in the doctor's office!!! Well this disease makes you stronger; you handle it because there really isn't another option!

Sounds like you are composing a list in preparation for your doc's visit. That is so helpful, even if you leave it in your pocket, it helps organize your thoughts.

Yes, you should be having your liver and kidney function monitored. At least once every 12 weeks, I think. Do you think the lump on your arm should be seen by your primary care doc? I know my LLMD is quite quick to dismiss anything that is not related to Lyme so if your LLMD is the same, that might be a little unsatisfying. Bet your LLMD wants to hear about your leg issues, though. And do ask about the Bart.

Good luck with the IV -- hope it gives you a good lift!

You can add on to your suspicion of a Bartonella infection with that lump on your forearm. See this link, please:

Click on the tile on the right -near the bottom- under Tick Borne Diseases you will find a tile that says Bartonella. Just click on the main tile for Bart and you will see under "Possible signs and symptoms" that "subcutaneous nodules" is listed, among many other symptoms. I've had them appear several times.

I will second the thought by Achievinggrace about notes, only I would suggest that you keep the note out, with pen (or pencil) out and make a mark on each thing you wanted to bring up to your doc as you go along. As you said 15 minutes isn't long and this way you will stay organized and on track.
