So i can order the tests and stuff for free but I need a doctor to send them in or complete them?? Would this be the LLMD or any doc? A reg doc probably won't do it?? I looked at their site but do not understand the process what is the process?? Thanks!!

As you want to go ahead with this, you probably should find an LLMD. The initial appointment usually includes Igenex testing, so you will be just cutting out a few steps. And you won't have to organize this yourself.

I had my Non Lyme Literate MD order the kit and draw the blood. He knows something is wrong with me and this saved time. An
open minded MD helps to work well with the Lyme Literate Doc. Go for it.

The NLLmd just calls igenex to order the kit. I filled out and paid for the overnight mail info and drove it to the postal center after my appt. I filleds out the Igenex forms while at my docs office. My Doc signed the forms, the lab drew the blood and that was it. Sometimes you have a long wait to see a good llmd so this helped immensely.

But how much does it cost? I'm thinking of going through my PCP but can't find anywhere on the IGENEX website how much everything is?

I just had a full panel of Lyme and co-infections tests run at a cost of $660 !! I will submit the bill to my insurance company and hopefully get about
half of that back....

im confused....*oo no not again*....lol...but i didnt know of these kits.....so ANY DOC CAN REQUEST A KIT AND IT WILL HAVE THE SAME SENSITIVE TESTING AS SENDING IT OFF THROUGH A LLmd?...or its just a packet to store the blood taken and it will be shipped to igenics?.....someone explain this to me because i have got to have my seven yr old tested but dont want to drive two hours away since we are already doing this once a month for me....we can use any doctor *if they are willing* to just get a diagnosis?

I had contacted Igenex a few weeks ago. I was interested in Western Blot ($200 for both) and C6 peptide assay Elisa (both - LymeMD blogspot as well as IDSA are recomending it, as much more specific than regular ELISA), it's around $100.
The blood is supposed to be drawn at your doctor's office, then sent to Igenex for testing.
Since I wanted to test my son, I talked to his pediatrician. He said his office does not draw blood. So we agreed on getting a C6 peptide assay at Quest Diagnostics as a first step. The results are not in yet. Whatever are the results I am going to take them to my LLMD to discuss if we should get the Western Blot.

To answer Lymie Angels question: what is 1st requested from Igenx is a kit for whatever test you desire. The kit is a box of tubes and other material to submit the blood back to Igenx. Igenx runs the same test regardless of how lyme literate or not the ordering physician is...then the results r returned to the ordering physician. You can get a copy of the test results for your info..Use as u need. If its a western blot, there is plenty of info on the web as to how to read it. If you see it looks suspicious, then u can seek a LLMD and proceed.

ahhhh....so if i could find a doc locally who would be willing to do it...*take the blood*...wait..you have to pay the igenx people i get that.....but the money u pay is that for the actual kit and their findings...or do u have to pay extra for their findings....and then u would pay a seperate fee for the drawing of the blood?

The kit is free. The Docs office phones Igenx and has them send the desired kit to their local office. Your local doc may or may not charge u to draw the blood. Mine didn't but it would be reasonable if they charged a modest fee. That depends on your doc. If I were you, once your local doc receives the kit, have them give you the directions and paperwork. (Or at least a copy) I filled out all the paperwork so it didn't "cost"my doc any staff time. Also, some tests need to be done early in the week so they arrive at Igenx on a weekday the same week.

The money you pay to Igenx is for them to run the test/s and to report their findings back to the doc who ordered the teest. The testing and reporting are always clumped as one fee.

Im dealing with Igenex also ... They will send you the kit and you take to a Doc to draw the blood but you have to pay for the test when you send it in..they do not bill Ins and the Complete Igenex Panel is between 600-800 dollars
