Pregnant with Lyme --questions

Hi All--

We have a good friend who has chronic Lyme and just found out she is pregnant.  She already has 4 little girls and they were NOT trying to get pregnant because of her medical condition.  She has been on abx for a year, went into remission, stopped the abx, ran a 5K, and now is back into full blown Lyme AND pregnancy. 

She has an appt with her out-of-state LLMD in a few weeks, but in the meantime, she has been experiencing heart palpitations and really bad air hunger.  Of course, she is quite scared.  I am just trying to help her out by seeing if any of you have any words of advice for her. . . .  Is there anything in particular she could be doing for these symptoms?  Any thoughts I can pass along to her?

Is she for sure that it's the Lyme causing the air hunger and palpitations?

I started having heart palpitations at 3 1/2 weeks pregnant with my 3rd. child. My heart would race, I could feel it pounding, and it skipped beats. That started up before I even got a positive pregnancy test. I also had a heart murmur. The heart skipping beat thing was one of the first things that tipped me off that I was pregnant with my next pregnancies.

For me, the heart palpitations were most likely not from Lyme, but from the extra blood volume because I don't believe I had Lyme yet at the time.

Pregnancy can do a lot of weird things to the body. I hope your friend is able to find someone to see soon. Waiting a few weeks when you're pregnant and scared is too long. If she hasn't been told that it's for sure Lyme causing the symptoms, you might try to reassure her that pregnancy hormones and blood increasing can cause a lot of symptoms too.

First of all, please tell your friend not to panic, the added stress won't help her at all. Another thing is she could have a co-infection.

I would like to recommend that she do some reading on this site: www.drjoneskids.com/

It's a site from Dr. Charles Ray Jones, who is known for his successful treatment of children with Tick-borne infections, and has a section on Pregnancy and Lyme.

Also, why not suggest that she join us! Even if she says she doesn't want to join, she can always do some reading on this site!! smilewinkgrin

Thank you all for your help, I am the friend Treehousemom was talking about and I have joined your forum. I had no idea this forum existed and am glad to have been introduced to it.

Thank you for the info and I will defiantly read what Dr. Jones has to say
