I have a seven yr old boy that is going to be tested and im scared

How do they treat children this young?...im 99% sure he has it...and my doc is mailing me an igenics kit this week...and im praying the treatment isnt going to knock him down like it did me...children are more resiliant arent they? quicker to recover?....and when children cant take pills they do have liquid antibiotics?...or would it be easier for him to do IV therapy?...any thoughts anyone?...im nervous cause its so hard to take care of me....let along another sick one like me...but his cant wait anymore....

WWJD he is well into showing symptoms....he has been complaining with a stomach ache all year...last week he started complaining with his back and knee hurting...i have to give him motrin for children three times a week for something hurting all the time...and he has ocd tendacies......he screams when he talks and tells me he isnt talking that loud so i think his hearing has been affected....i saw two different kinds of rashes on his arm this morning when he rolled his sleeves to brush his teeth....has has a cavitity every time we go to the dentist when we make him brush his teeth all the time.....he is funny about his food and throws up really easily...and he is still incontinent while he sleeps. And now all of the sudden he looks swollen and gaining alot of weight. He hates hot weather and has severe night sweats where i have to change his sheets almost daily. Yeah im pretty sure he has it.

Both of my kids were successfully treated!! They got better and now thank God are fine. I read children as a rule respond better to treatment. Our lyme dr. put both on oral abx, I think amoxocillin. The herxes were not fun I remember our girl screaming but she recovered very well as did our boy. The boy was showing oh my memory is so bad but something well depression for sure and I think OCD as well?

Please have faith. I know its soo scary but ours did wonderful and they graduated top of the class and are happy . I would just about bet my life our girl got it congnitially and it went into remission around age 2 and then came back out 2nd or 3rd grade. She even showed heart problems. a heart specialist made me cry. We did tell our school and I had them work at home when necessary. i did not let them fall behind so on better days they worked and they went to school also they just had way over the limit of abscencs. I will pray for you and your boy and for God to stay with you through this journey with a healthy happy boy as an ending,

Oh now I remember kari slept all of the time and so did her brother, they were not acting like normal kids and they had aches and pains and headaches. She hated to walk at times especially in the mornings I made her move. There was some throwing up too but Thank God for our Dr. and the treatment because they got well. I also appreciated that they did not both get sick at the same time.

I hope I did not make things worse. I meant to say they felt so much better when on the abx but in the beginning the herxes were a trial. Nothing like mine, Kari's were like two days? Their overall health IMPROVED greatly on treatment. I was much MORE concerned before they started treatment!!

thanks all of you....we all are going to have to just walk this out...i hate it so bad for my family...and i have a daughter in nursing school...and i hope that if she starts treatment it wont be too bad on her either....she is having trouble with her joints and forgetting alot of stuff.....and her cycle came early , when she was nine and they have been horrible....im hoping and praying she will be ok with all this too....and im praying that my husbands symptoms will hold off long enough so i can get them through it...ima need a "girls night out" for about a week when i get through all this.....

I have to ask, how do you all think your children caught it? Are they exposed to lyme through inects or do you think they catch it from us--sharing food, etc.?

This freaks me out.

Do you think its possible to give to our family members through sharing food/drink? My son is 8 and complains of leg and joint pain, random pains in his arms/torso, and upset stomach. But I figured it was growoing pains and such. I'm not aware of him ever having a tick bite....

While the Borellia bacteria that causes Lyme has been found in every bodily fluid, it is very unlikely that you can pass it to anyone by sharing food and drink.

Our mouths have bacteria killing enzymes and our stomach acid kills things like that.

Now, sexual contact is a different story. The Borellia bacteria is a spirochete just like syphilis so it can be passed during intimacy. The mainstream medical community is not recognizing this so you should do your research and decide what you want to do.

are you close to Baltimore - there is an LLMD who specializes in children and Lyme.

Taking both my kids for blood draws today and then Fed-Exing to IGenex.

I think I already now the results but it is still better than a life of not knowing.

Lots of Pharmicists will make your abx in liquid form, although I think you need to ask before the 'script comes in to be filled. It's worth a quick phone call to them to find out!
