I have a similar problem with weight loss. I have Lyme and Babesia with a possibility for other co-infections that are still being sorted out. The Lyme was positive on tests, the babesia was clinically diagnosed. I was diagnosed in December.
I had joint pain and other mild symptoms for several years that I ignored. Then I got really sick in September with a high fever and tons of new and quite severe symptoms.
From October to November I dropped 20 lbs in without any diet changes and a lot LESS exercise than normal for me. I was considered "normal" weight to start, so it was somewhat concerning. A family medicine doctor tested/checked for everything he could think of (MS, Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Cancer, Thyroid, etc.) before coming to the conclusion that perhaps a sudden eating disorder was to blame for the tons of symptoms.
It's several months later, and I am still fairly steadily losing weight although not as quickly. I changed my diet somewhat right after Thanksgiving to try to help eradicate the bacteria and prevent Candida. I was researching and trying to do something to help myself before I could get in to see a LLMD.
I eliminated all refined sugar and flour, fried junk food, dairy, etc. I find that I have to eat tons of nuts, peanut butter, meat, eggs, etc. to not lose weight. I am literally eating all the time. I do sometimes have to eat wheat bread or whole grain pasta if I start dropping quickly.
So in my case, I guess the weight loss was a symptom or perhaps a result of Lyme or babesia.
