Hi All!
While looking for some other info, I just came across a Hepatitis info page about using milk thistle and the possible interactions with abx and other medications - I think we should all read over this one, as it's always better to be safe than sorry!

Sorta makes you wonder how safe the drugs are, no? Milk thistle may inhibit or enhance the ability of the other drugs to poison you. Hmmmmmmmm. Lol.

Wellbutrin is metabolized by the liver so this is why there may be an interaction. But this article is geared towards Hep C which is a serious liver disease and anyone with Hep C need to use meds or any other substance through the blood or skin to bypass the liver.

Honestly, if you cycle your milk thistle, I would not worry at all.

Most meds are NOT safe, just an FYI to Yazzer! If they were, there would not be a laundry list of warning and side effects that comes with it.

Thankfully it does mention specific drugs it interacts with. It's good to be aware of this kind of stuff.

Just an idea -- if the main issue is "keeping medicine in the blood longer" -- it may prove HELPFUL if it keeps abx in the blood longer. It probably all depends on the specific medications and circumstances. I do know that it is part of some lyme protocol to take probenecid with amoxicillin to keep it in the blood longer.

Just a thought I had, I am not a doctor or lab researcher. :)

Exactly my point, peacesoul! It seems they are making milk thistle out to be the bad Guy. I think it's the drugs that are the bad guys!

My only point was that we need to be aware of possible interactions of all of the things we take, as milk thistle can both increase effectiveness or decrease effectiveness of certain medications.
