yeast infection vs bacterial infection?

im pretty sure im exhibiting symptoms of a mild yeast infection- and i have been on longterm antibiotics so it makes sense. i was going to go ahead with at home treatment but keep on seeing warnings online that if you have never had a yeast infection to go to the doc first bc it could be a bacterial infection instead. is this less common for us lymies because we are already on antibiotics that fight bacterial infections?

Are you talking about a vaginal infection? I believe there are over the counter tests available to determine whether it is a yeast infection.

Of course you can use your home remedies to find out; they will work on a yeast infection, but not on a bacterial infection.

When you say yeast infection - are you talking about a vaginal infection? Yeast infections can also occur in the gut, mouth, ear, etc.

If you are talking vaginal, the symptoms of BV (which is the name for bacterial vaginitis) and a vaginal yeast infection can be similar. But for me, I had more burning with BV and yeast is more itching.

I recommend a probiotic called FemDophlis for the vaginal/urinary tract. I take it everyday and it helps keep issues at bay.

yes, im referring to a vaginal infection. symptoms for me are primarily itching but also a burning sensation as well, so i guess a combination of the two symptoms you mentioned twinkl!

I use miconozole and probiotic--if symptoms don't improve, I get it checked out. I find the epsom baths help w the burning. Baking soda baths can also be soothing.
