How can you tell if after 3 weeks of taking Plaquenil if your vision is more blurry then it was if its Herx or the Plaquenil making your vision worse ????    I had blurry vision before going on Plaquenil and now it seems to be a little worse especially at night time but I am not sure if it could be this medication after 3 weeks or just a Herx because when I get high dose Vit C drip my eyes seem to get a little worse for like a day and so I knew it was Herx.....    It drives me nuts cuz I feel like I need wipers on my eyes ..LOL

Same question here! Your best bet is to get your eye pressure checked every 6 months with the plaquenil, although I know that doesn't help in the meantime. I have read that it's possible to have a more or less benign blurring of vision as a side effect with plaquenil, rather than a serious problem, more of it just being an annoyance.

One other thing that springs to mind (for you, and also for me, actually - I hadn't thought of this before now!) but could it be allergies? All that pollen and junk floating around in the air...maybe that has something to do with it?

Yes, very important to have your eyes checked every six months while taking Plaquenil. I have been on Plaquenil for about 9 months and at times, I feel like my eyes are blurry too. I recently had my second eye exam and was told my eyes are perfect, thankfully. I had my first test about two months after I started Plaquenil because I was concerned about my blurry vision. They were fine. It did help to ease my mind though. If it persists, you may want to do the same just so you know.

FYI....Plaquenil is a derivative of FQ's...and a symtom of FQ is blurred vision!

WOW... Good Info .. Thanks guys !!! I had my vision checked several months ago and they were fine but it was after that I found out I had Lyme and now on Plaquenil.. I will for sure be getting them checked again ... I do have allergies but this blurry stuff has been going on for a long time and then now a little worse since on the Plaquenil... Good to know all these things .. Thanks so much :) The things we Lyme patients have to go thru to get well ..ggggrrrrrr
