More positive progress. Somehow, over the past 3 weeks, my progress has accelerated for the better! I still have a few rough times but I can relate them to one thing or another. Most of the time, the rough periods are associated with doing too much because I have been really feeling well! Last Monday, for instance, I was in brain fog HELL! Dizzy, whacy, spacey. BUT, I had had a great weekend just before where I gorged on Breyers Coffee Ice Cream (I rarely do this - like once a YEAR) and had some glasses of wine on Friday and Saturday. Then, feeling guilty because of my high calorie consumption, I ran 10 miles on Sunday - LOL. That was my longest run since my diagnosis with Lyme back on June 10 last year. So, I guess, no wonder I was whacked out Monday. What was different this time, tough, whereas before, I could expect many days of herx/detox reaction, it did NOT last - I awoke last Tuesday feeling night-and-day BETTER and it lasted the rest of he week with only transient symptoms!
I did not learn my lesson, as this weekend, I went to a neighborhood bonfire and indulged in some more wine (I love good wine) and ate some DORITOS and a candy bar because, again, I was feeling "normal" and this is JUNK I would not normally eat even while healthy. So, I got up and ran 7 miles yesterday to make up for it (after having run 7 on Friday too) and was EXTREMELY tired and exhausted yesterday evening (due to physical exertion and a not-so-good diet, no?). Today, is not too bad, though with only some minor neuro symptoms and some left over fatigue but I am at work.
The point of all this is that, it seems as if I am finally getting through this! 35+ years of Lyme (with recurring flares) and just getting diagnosed in June and I feel it drifting into the background. I added NAC and ALA to my protocol back in late April and maybe that helped trigger my latest surge for the better. I feel much more socialable, less timid and days fly by (unlike the tick.....tick....tick of time in the throes of the disease). Exercise - my running - has played a big role in me getting better too. I would run even while dizzy as all get-out. I just refuse to lay around and let the disease consume me - if it's gonna get me, it's gonna get me on MY TERMS! My current treatment is Ceftin every day and Biaxin toggled for 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. I added Cats Claw but am not taking it as of now but I am doing Buhners Japanese Knotweed and Eleuthero. I have continued the methylation protocol as welll for the past 6 months and just finished up 6 months on Byron White's A-L Complex and A-BAB. I take multi-vitamins and drink a green shake everyday plus I gorge on Vitamin C and magnesium. Acupuncture also, every week.
That's it for me - I just past the 11 month mark since Lyme diagnosis (though I have had it at least 35 years) - things "feel" a lot different in a good way - I feel "me" returning more and more as each day passes. Keep the faith, folks!!!!
