Hi all,
I have newly elevated IgG titers for Tularemia, babesia duncani (WA1), and c. pneumoniae. At diagnosis, I was negative for tularemia, and c. pneumoniae, but wasn't tested for babesia duncani. My babesia microti was negative and still is. I also have high mycoplasma and EBV titers, as does my husband.
I am trying to figure out how I got tularemia, but one thing I can think of is gardening. It sounds like tularemia is mostly communicated via animals, although I also know that what is on the internet may not be accurate, not just because there is a lot of non-verified data, but also because there may be a conscious attempt to placate the public by putting a spin on how these infections can(or can't) spread. I read that tularemia can be in soil and water, but it said it was rare to get it that way. Any information would be appreciated.
Can there be false positive or negatives for any of these? I was curious about whether I perhaps had high titers before that didn't show up for some reason.
Also, can anyone comment on whether most/some LLMD's assume that elevated IgG titers are evidence of likely infection? In some circles, having positive IgG antibodies, but not IgM antobidies, would be interpreted as either exposure to the illness, or possibly a past infection. My doctor is opting to treat this, so I am starting Rifampin. I was offered the choice of that or herbal drops called A-Tula, but my doctor is out of stock on the A-tula and is not sure when it is coming in.
I will now be on doryx plus rifampin, so I am not looking forward to that. For those of you who are now, or have been on both of these at the same time, I would be interested to hear how you tolerated it, and any tips. I switched from doxy to doryx and my stomach is happier than when on the regular doxy.
Thank you for reading this lengthy post!
