Yes, Lyme joint pain can act just like Osteoarthritis, or even Rheumatoid Arthritis because it can allow these things to develop. Lyme Disease lowers our body's ability to fight off all kinds of things. Lyme also has it's own special type of arthritis that can make your joints twist and turn and hurt just like Osteo - only this type will actually heal. The amount of healing will depend on just how much damage is done to the individual joint, but at least there is some healing that can take place!!
I have lived with Lyme Arthritis for many years now, and with proper treatment, my fingers and toes don't twist and turn as much as they did. I've had it for quite a while though, so I don't expect them to completely heal - but any healing great and the fact that the damage is no longer on going has been wonderful!!!
