Ladies...Has anyone had testosterone levels low?  New Blood work says mine are...

Yes, I did ... In 2010 I was "complaining" so much to the Gyno doc of everything that was wrong with me and they did a Saliva test of all my Hormones ansd found all of them to be very low including Cortisol which then I was diaganosed with Adrenal Fatigue , then diaganosed with Lyme about a year later.. I had my testosterone checked again this year before going to the LLMD and it was still low .. My LLMD gives me testosterone shots when I see him and they help me alot .. Women can onky have them every 4 weeks but I see him every 7 weeks so its ok.. I notice a huge difference when I get them and I can tell when they wear off also ....

Yes, mines almost nil. You can take pills too. It was just suggested by an intern that was working with my LLMD to use Maca. Its a liquid herbal. It stimulates your body to make testosterone. I don't use it enough. My libido is nil also. Which my husbands not too happy about. If he knew about the Maca, he'd probably make me drink it!

I just had all my hormones tested a couple of days ago again. So maybe the low numbers will make me start again.

BTW - I recently started hormone replacement for early Peri-menopause (thank you Lyme, I'm only 46) and they made my T3 and T4 go hay wire. So I guess i stay off the estridiol and progesterone for a while. Or maybe they're just not necessary???.

My t-3 has been low several times too...and I have never had HR...I am 41. No Iodine....I am almost positive cortisol is low too. Will have LLMD check it wed.

I feel like I am a falling apart voodoo doll! LOL :-)

Yes very weepy. I remember laughing at myself after crying from a radio commercial. I had that happen many times. I'm in my forth year of treatment now and don't have that happen too much. But every once in a while it pops up.

A few months ago, I noticed that I didn't have any spotting after missing 3 days of my birth control pills. So I stopped to see what would happen. No period for 3 months, hot flashes in bed at night, acne galore and my hair loss increased. My LLMD's a Gyno/infertility endocrinologist started me on the estrodiol patch and progesterone. Been on it 2 months now and have terrible acne and my thyroid levels are worse.

I had a period for 4 months and had to get the pill to stop it this has happned twice since 09...hot flashes...hair loss too..luckily no acne issues :)

Most of the hair loss is Thyroid related, so make sure to be tested for TSH, T3 and T4's, Lyme screws up all our hormone levels. All of them.

I've heard of woman with Lyme having hemorrhage problems from Lyme. Some being their first symptoms. I hope you're hot flashes stopped on the pill.??

The period thing,severe headaches, and short term memory issues were...but my dr thought due to a roll over accident my body got out of whack but looking back I am positive it was lyme! So far TSH and T4 have been fine...just T3 has been low several times...

BTW...how did you know you had worms?

Is low testosterone common in guys too? I feel like this may explain many symptoms. Will the levels return after treatment??

great question Steve...I have heard it common in women maybe men have high estrogen..lol :-)

FunkySteve, My hubby(Lyme & co-infections for at least 6 yrs) had his testosterone levels tested 6 mos ago, per my request(hee-hee), and yep, they were quite low.  His libido is still nil!!  But, I'd rather have him well than worry too much about this. I think it's a pretty common thing for men with Lyme eyes

Thank you! I've had lyme for about 5 months and I'm worried they will never return to normal. Luckily, my girlfriend has the same attitude as you, but it's very frustrating and disheartening for a 20 year old. Do hormone imbalances return to normal after successful treatment? (I don't mean to hijack this thread, but this seems related)

Hi Steve,

I think your question was answered on an earlier thread of yours. Yes, your hormone levels to return to normal after successful treatment.

You may also be under-estimating the overall effects of feeling ill and weak. When you feel well, all of your life works better!
