All other mammals on earth (with the exceptions of chimps and gorillas I believe) produce vitamin C in their bodies, and the amount they produce increases equivalently based on the degree of illness they're experiencing. Gorillas for example eat upwards of 5,000mg (5 grams) of vitamin c DAILY in their diet. Check out the research done by Linus Pauling and some others on this topic. I've personally taken upwards of 50 grams over a few hour period at the acute onset of common cold symptoms and dramatically cut the length of the illness. Coincidence? Maybe. But I doubt it. I usually take between 2-10 grams a day. Read about "bowel tolerance" with respect to vitamin C.
