Bart Negative. Why am I being treated for Bart??

My blood test for Bart was negative. LabCorp did the following titers:

B henselae IgG & IgM
B quintana IgG & IgM

I am positive for Lyme (tick bite June 18, 2012) and clear EM. Blood test was 7/27 which is 5.5 weeks after the bite.

I am taking 200 mg doxy BID and 300 mg rifampin BID.

When my bart came back negative, I asked my LLMD if I could discontinue the rifampin and the doc said no, and that my bart results would be explained to me later.

Why would I still have to take rifampin? Does it work on lyme? I hate not being able to have even an occasional glass of wine!

Are bart tests that unreliable?

Unfortunately, none of the tests that have been developed so far for tick-borne infections in humans are very reliable - at least not yet.

There are over 30 different strain of Bartonella - with more being discovered and named - and as you can see, you were only tested for two strains. If your LLMD feels like you are showing symptoms of Bart, s/he's very wise to continue treatment even though you test positive to those two strains.

Please be sure to follow your LLMD's lead and take the abx!

Does anyone know if rifampin works on Lyme?

I've been fighting my LLMD tooth and nail to treat me for bartonella even though my test is negative - let's trade doctors!

If you do have bartonella it's supposedly really important to get that out of the way first, otherwise it can compromise your ability to heal from lyme (which is the boat I think I've been in) - I finally got my doc to prescribe me some rifampin which she said is also good for the cyst form of lyme.

How is the rifampin working for you?

I can't tell any difference in any symptoms since I started on doxy and rifampin. My symptoms are very mild. Neck crackles, very very slight headache and the heels of my feet hurt like I have walked a lot. But they are all very mild. I have been on doxy 6 weeks and added rifampin after the third week.

Ah my feet are always like that too - I'm not sure what's triggered it but lately that's been my worst symptom, just standing on my feet makes me want to cry it hurts so bad!

I've been really awful about being consistent with my treatment, but I think red root (an herbal tincture) has been helpful for the bartonella-like symptoms - just throwing it out there!

Someone close to me had me try liquid chlorophyll.
It's been one of the most effective pieces of my arsenal I have ever added.
Next to the stabilized Oxygen.
Together they work wonders getting the cysts and lymphatic system
In a more manageable state.
Much more manageable. Lol. Lol.
Like non functional to functional.

I notice mental clarity intensely improves with the liquid chlorophyll / stabilized oxygen combo.
If I had one to choose. It would hav been the oxygen. But ow that I have added the Chlorophyll I find it equally important.
Imperitave really. It is as if I am bei g filled with neutrients that have been hollowed out of me by Lyme , Bart , who the heck knows the extent of what we are all really facing inside of us.
You know guys???
Filling us back up with the nutrients to give our body's fighting strength is so important.
