hi, I have neuro lyme and I am just starting my 7th week of IV Rocephin. my doc upped my dose to Rocephin 2 gms twice a day and added Flagyl twice a day. After reading about others and coinfections I realized that I did not tell my doc about my history of encepalitis from mosquito bite almost 30 years ago. I wonder if I could have a residual infection from way back. Any thoughts? I am also on Simphony sq and plaquinal for RA, also have hypothyroid, reynouds, narcolepsy, carpal tunnel syndrome, thoracic outlet synd,reflux, gerd, barretts esophagus,recurrent meniscal tears, recurrent rotator cuff tears, asthma and I'm sure there is something I have forgotten. I am taking about 40 billion probiotics three times a day to avoid getting thrush. I do not want to get thrush. Besides probiotics and no sugar any ideas to keep the thrush away?

Of course I couldn't tell you for certain, but it is certainly possible that you were infected with lyme disease back when you got encephalitis from the mosquito bite. Sometimes these infections lay dormant for years only to reemerge when we have some kind of physical or emotional stress in our lives. It's certainly worth mentioning to your doctor - it's always best to tell them everything, even if you think it may not be important - too much information is better than not enough, the way I see it!

There are some medications you can take for yeast - nystatin, diflucan - you may want to look into that. You might also want to look into herbs that are antimicrobial, antifungal, etc. I think garlic is supposed to antifungal, and apple cider vinegar may work as well - I'd just do a little internet research on natural antifungals and see what you can find. You can also look through old posts using the search function as I'm sure this topic has come up before!

As Borderlyme has said, there's no way to tell for certain, but there is strong evidence that all the things you have been diagnosed with are from tick-borne infections. Wouldn't it be easier to believe that you have one condition that has lead to most if not all of your symptoms? LOL! Otherwise, my list of conditions would be a mile long!!! LOL!!

It would be a good idea to make sure your LLMD is aware of all of your symptoms, as the best doc's will diagnose clinically.

As for the probiotics, I and many others here use kefir, as it's got a whole bunch of different strains of good bacteria for the intestines. If Candida becomes a real problem for you, then I would suggest that you go on a Candida diet, they can be found by just doing an internet search, but be sure you use only reliable sources.

Also watch your foods - read the labels and avoid yeasts.
