Hello all,
So I recently had my 3 month appoinment with my LLMD. They were thrilled with my improvement during the first 3 months... I was really feeling about 50% better with pain, and about 80% better with fatigue and cognative symptoms. I was really happy that I was starting to feel a bit like my old self and participating in life again rather than watching from the sidelines.
So during my appointment my LLMD indicated that she wanted to work on the Babesia and Bartonella now, and switched me from my old meds. to a new pulsed cycle.
I was taking:
Nystatin ,Plaquinel, Bianxin, Doxycyline, Flagyl, Probiotics, with a side of supplements a mile long.
Now I'm taking:
Pulse A (10 days) - Clindamycin and Quinine
Pulse B (10 days) - Plaquinel, Biaxin, Flagyl
After 1 week on Pulse A I can say that I feel horrible. My energy level is decreased and the fatigue is back. I am having to nap more often just to be able to get through the day. The pain is back, maybe not as bad as it was 3 months ago, but it is definitely hindering my daily activities. The pain is predominantly in my hands, wrists, feet, knees, and back. I can barely feel my hands, my feet hurt to walk on (oh that early moring foot pain is awful), and I'm starting to get muscle twitches and cramps again. I'm also getting the rib pain in my left ribs (over my spleen), that my LLMD inidcated was related to the Babesia parasite. I also am having (this is probably TMI) really odd smelling urine... a cross between how urine smells when you eat asparagus, and then sometimes it smells almost sweet... like cinnamon...? What the heck is that about?
My question is... is this herxing as a result of the new drugs, or is this a relapse due to the change in drugs? I've deceided that I'll give it until both the cycle of Pulse A and B are completed... that's 20 days on the new regime, and then if I'm still feeling horrible contact her to get her insights. I just wondered if anyone out there has had a similar experience and if it was herxing or a relapse.
Thanks for the support! :)
