Hi Kelly,
Welcome to our little spot on the web!! I'm so glad that you've found us!
If you haven't already, I would highly suggest that you read through our "New to Lyme? Start Here!" thread as it's packed full of important info and great links, as well as symptoms lists (Lyme rarely travels alone!) and a great post on detoxing!! Detoxing is incredibly important as it's the toxins that are being released by the bacteria that drives our symptoms!
I wouldn't rush out and have more testing done, at least not yet, as the testing for Lyme and the other tick-borne infections leave a lot to be desired. For Lyme, only about
4 or 5 different strain are being tested for, even though there are over 100 different strains here in the US alone, 300 world wide! It's no wonder there are so many false negatives!
Quest happens to be one of the worst for testing for tick-borne infections for some reason. One of the best - as you know - is Igenex. I used Labcorp and tested positive for Lyme and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, but I had been on abx for a full year by then as well.
Another reason for the poor testing is because with these tests they are only looking in the blood for the active infection. These bacteria love to hide in the muscles, organs, joints and even the brain to avoid not only being detected, but to avoid abx as well.
Sounds like your Doctor is doing well with treating you, although I use herbs so I'm not real familiar with all of the different combo's of abx that are used.It seems that each doctor has their own opinion on what combo's work best.
It would be helpful for you to download a copy of Dr.Burrascano's paper, "Advanced Topics in Lyme Disease" , as it covers quite a bit of information about
the most common tick-borne infections and is written so that it's easy to follow and understand. You can find a direct link in the "New to Lyme" thread.
We have a great group of members here, so any questions that you have, ask away!! We also have a really great search function so you can look up and read through older thread that have information that pertains to you!
Again, welcome!!! I'm sure you'll find this the place to be!
