Hi Justme. Welcome to our little spot! I'm really sorry that you are so ill, but you are now surrounded with others that can really understand what you are going through!! Another thing great about
this place is the members that we have are so very helpful with suggestions and helping to understand what's happening with your treatment and any issues you may come up against!
I would also like to encourage you to read our "New to Lyme? Start here!" thread. It has symptoms lists for the most common tick-borne infections so that you can see if you have any other infections, as Lyme rarely travels alone. You will also find great links to papers that we have found to be incredibly useful in understanding our infections and treatments, like Dr. Joseph Burrascano's "Advanced Topics in Lyme Disease" which covers so much more than just Lyme!
As with most things, finding a specialist is always the best option, so to help you find a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (LLMD), please email our long time member, Dan's Mother at:
[email protected] You can email Stephanie at:
[email protected] You can also go to:
www.turnthecorner.org/ if you want to learn a little bit more about
Lyme Disease.
You can also go to The Lyme Disease Association and search for LLMD's 3 times in a month. You have to register first. Here is the link:
www.lymediseaseassociation.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=277&Itemid=74 You will want to find an ILADS (International Lyme And Associated Diseases Society) doctor. The ILADS site is another great place to read to get you started on your Lyme journey.
www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/treatment_guidelines_clearing_ilads.html You do have a choice of abx (antibiotics) or going herbal/natural for your treatments. Many LLMD's are now starting to use the herbal treatments to help patients heal better along with the abx. Many of us here are going all natural/herbal and doing well also. In the "New to Lyme?" thread you will also find a link that has the most common natural treatments and their descript
ion.
Also, as Borderlyme said already, detoxing in really important. Not only for the reasons she stated, but also because it's common for those infected with tick-borne infections to have difficulty detoxing, some even have their detox 'pathways' blocked - I did. You will find a post in the "New to Lyme?" that explains detoxing when you have these infections.
We are here to help you as you learn about
what you have and how to deal with it!
