Hi everyone,

I have been battling lyme for a year now.I got really sick in August 2011.I never saw a tick/ticks or the classic bullseye rash or any other rash.My blood tested positive for lyme in Oct.2011.I was negative for the co-infections,but as we know the testing is so unreliable.I have been on Doxy IV Rocephin (inf disease dr. would not let me have more than 28 days of Rocephin) Amoxicillin Azythromaycin & Minoxycline.I have terrible neurological symptoms that will NOT quit.I have severe headaches.Loud "buzzing" in my head and right ear.I have blurry vision,dizziness,foggy brain,confusion,can't thgink of words and the right side of my body especially my ear,neck shoulder and face get so hot and red.I feel like I have sunburn from the inside out.I have many more symptoms but I am getting confused trying to list everything here and make sense.I have been spun in circles by the infectious diseases dr's.the past year so I finally paid out of pocket (very exp) to see a LLMD this past Thursday.He strongly feels that I have babesia.I went for new bloodwork yesterday.He wants me to try Ceftin & Mepron for a month.If there is no improvement he wants me back on IV AB's if my HMO will pay for it again.Anyone here get any relief from taking the Ceftin & Mepron.I am scared to death that these two drugs will tear up my stomach and intestines.I do take Garden Of Life Raw Probiotics.

I am sorry that we all have this awful disease.It changes a normal life into hell.

Welcome to our little spot! I'm so sorry for all that you've been through so far, but it's a good thing that you are already seeing a LLMD!!!

I'm really sorry, I don't know much about those abx that your LLMD wants you to take, as I use an herbal approach. There are others here who know a whole lot about the abx used to treat these infections.

One thing we do suggest is that you do what you need to do to protect your stomach, like eating before you take abx -even though most are told to take them on an empty stomach. You will be on strong abx for a while, so even though eating right before taking your abx will possibly slow the absorption, it will help to protect your stomach.

Also, we generally need to take 2 to 3 times the recommended dose of probiotics in order to be effective, and be sure to take them two hours after taking your abx. That way they will have the chance to replenish the good bacteria that the abx just wiped out.

I would really encourage you to read through our "New to Lyme? Start here!" thread at the top of the forum, if you haven't already. It's just packed with really important information and links, symptom lists - as Lyme rarely travels alone.

You will also find a post on detoxing (I believe that it's the 3rd post down) when you have these infections. It's always best to start off very slowly, as many find that they have compromised detox pathways. Also, be sure to use all the methods that are mentioned - dry skin brushing, drinking lemon water if you aren't having muscle spasms or muscle twitching.

You will also want as "clean' of a diet as possible. We can't all go all organic, but if you eat as little processed foods as possible- and not eat the most processed foods- it'll be a big step in the right direction.

The best news is perhaps that you are not alone! We have a great group of members here that will help you find the answers that you may need, as well as help you to learn what you can about these infections.
