Right ear blocked and buzzing...

Anyone have a similar experience?
Friday while in the shower my ear felt kind of blocked and I couldn't tell if I got water in it. I came out of the shower and about a half hour later I had a pop and gurgle with burning almost like when you get an ear infection. Well 2 days later my ear is buzzing, slightly throbbing and blocked. My head feels slightly congested as well. Is this a herx? I don't have a fever. I don't know what's what anymore. This is all so silly. It really is. Having to wake up and figure out what is going to go on today? To think I had the nerve to complain about fatigue last week! Now I can't hear! (Insert banging head icon here). Good lord, when is this going to end?

I'm so sorry that you have to deal with all of this, Shabbychic! It really does get to you sometimes. Hang in there!

I would suggest that you make sure that your ear drum is still intact. If it is, you could be just experiencing tinnitus due to the infections that you have. I've had it for a lot of years now, and I wish I had some good news to tell you other than treatment could take it away.

Thanks Traveler. It's not so much the buzzing that bothers me as the feeling of it being blocked. As an aside, my eardrum is not intact, it has been perforated from an accident 20 years ago. Up until now I've had no issues because of it. I even had a recent checkup with my ENT.
I did some research and it turns out Plaquenil can cause hearing/eardrum issues. I'll have to put a call in to the doctor tomorrow. : ( such a bummer. Hope I don't lose my hearing in this ear.

Oh Geez!! I do hope everything turns out okay and you can just switch over to a better tolerated abx!

Please let us know what the doc has to say!

I know that feeling, I was going through the same thing just today, except I wasn't in the shower and mine sort of sounded like a tone or ringing or something..,That really freaks me out, that's not the first time it has happened to me. I've also been going though servers fatigue. I hope things are getting better for you, you will be in my prayers.

So sorry you too are experiencing this...my left ear is blocked most days, and I have lost complete hearing in that ear twice which was very scary. Prior to being dx I had a whoosing sound constantly in that ear, I told my gp that I could hear my blood rushing through the artery in my neck. It would keep me awake at night.

I no longer how the sound effects, just the on and off blockage which is annoying and makes it hard to hear, especially where there is a lot of back ground noise. I am hoping it resolves as treatment goes on.

I hope your sounds go away soon :)

Thanks so much everyone. Sometimes just knowing I'm not the only one with screwey symptoms makes me feel better. Not that I wish this on anyone!

You're def. not the only one with ear symptoms! Good thing this forum only requires sight! :)

I actually was going to post over the weekend because of ear problems. My ear was "blocked" at the beginning of last week. Then it had pain like a full on ear infection. I thought "is this swimmer's ear? I was only in the pool once! And I didn't go under water!!"
I decided to wait to go to the doc because I hate my PCP...I am in the process of changing...and I didn't feel like hearing him tell me I'm nuts again or that there's absolutely nothing wrong with me. (yeah he's a jerk).
So now the pain is gone and it's back to just feeling like there's a mini-swimming pool in there. And yep, this has happened before, both with the water, and the pain and even another doc said they didn't see anything in there (hahahahaha..he was nice though, so he didn't mean it like that!)

I hope it gets better for you soon!!
