Vitamin C

Saw my LLMD last Friday. I have been detoxing, probiotics, etc. He recommended adding Vitamin C. I can't remember how much he said a day...what a suprise with my Lyme brain!!! I bought 1000mg capsules. His office is so busy that I thought I would get my answer quicker here. Please let me know what has worked for you as far as dosage. So thankful for this forum. My husband goes to every visit with me but I truly do not think he understands what I am going through. Mine is more neuro so I look healthy on the outside but feel like I am in a "brain fog" everyday! Comforting to hear other stories like mine!

My doc said the same - to bowel tolerance, and to avoid magnesium ascorbate for this reason, but when pushed for a ball park figure she suggested working upto 10 grams taken diluted with water over the course of the day. She mentioned that vit C had proven v. Effective at high doses ESP against viruses - quoting Linus Pauling who apparently used doses of upto 50g/ day.

Haha well I am orange but I suspect that has more to do with the rifampin! At the moment I am consistently taking 8 grams a day of vit c along with a whole bunch of other stuff and my bowel seems to be doing just fine. Another suggestion is to add bicarb or trisalts to reduce to acidity and make it more tolerable. The 50 g referred to by Pauling is I believe only achievable with IV - so costly but perhaps effective if one can afford it! Remember as well if you are on certain treatments like artesunate you need to keep antioxidants including vit c away from them.

I'm going to try to up my dose of Vitamin C as well - LOL! Wish me luck! Hopefully it'll help this poor toxin overloaded body deal with it a bit better!
